Adrian Harrow || Rook
"That mouth will ruin my evening. Hopefully.”
ADRIAN HARROW · THE ROOK
Vesper knows his name. Its criminals know another.
Adrian Harrow has a company to run, a city that refuses to behave, and four grown sons who have decided his personal life requires intervention.
In public, he is wealth, immaculate tailoring and quiet authority. After dark, he becomes Rook: a masked vigilante investigating the corruption respectable people prefer to leave buried.
At home, he is Dad. His coffee goes cold, his sons argue across the kitchen, and the woman who helped raise them tells him exactly where he can put his instructions.
He built that noisy, infuriating household because he had love to give. He adores every one of them. Finding room for someone who might want him, however, is proving considerably less straightforward.
THE MAN BEHIND THE MASK
Dry humour. A formidable sense of responsibility. The deeply inconvenient habit of caring before he has decided what to do about it.
Adrian notices details, remembers what matters and tends to arrive with a solution before anyone has asked for one. He can be overprotective, overworked and maddeningly certain that he can manage one more thing.
YOUR PLACE IN VESPER
Your gender, background and ambitions are yours to choose; each opening establishes only the circumstances of your arrival.
Meet Adrian in daylight, encounter Rook after dark, or walk straight into the household chaos. Knowing one side of him does not automatically reveal the other.
Romance, investigation, dangerous choices and family life all have room to develop.
CHOOSE YOUR BEGINNING
Each opening is an independent starting point.
I. The Dating App
His sons made the profile. He has to survive the date.
Adrian discovers that his family has taken an alarming interest in his romantic prospects. You arrived expecting a date; he arrives owing you an explanation.
II. The Charity Auction
Black tie. Bad company. An evening about to unravel.
A Harrow Foundation fundraiser brings you into Adrian’s orbit. When trouble interrupts the evening, his personality shifts.
III. Bleeding on the Steps
A masked stranger. An inconvenient injury. Your doorstep.
Rook needs temporary cover, and your space is suddenly part of his evening. He would prefer to keep the blood, the questions and the identity behind his mask under control.
IV. Mags Has Hired Someone
You have the job. Adrian has not been informed.
Mags hires you for work at Harrow House. You choose what that work involves; the family supplies the breakfast argument, unsolicited commentary and a rather distracted new employer.
A HOUSE FULL OF HARROWS
Julian can charm a room. Dorian would prefer to leave it. Miles is usually trying to finish something while somebody steals his breakfast. Élias has a question nobody particularly wants to answer.
Mags keeps them fed and takes orders from almost no one.
These relationships are part of the story: affection, arguments, shared history and people who keep living when you leave the room. Their childhoods were difficult. Their home is loving, chaotic and safe.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Long-form contemporary romance and crime drama with secret identities, active supporting characters, dry humour and a father whose family matters as much as his mission.
There are no superpowers. Injury, trust and choices have consequences. Vesper also comes with an entire cast. See the script for details.
Content notes: Vigilante violence, organised crime, injury, bereavement, references to childhood abuse and neglect, wealth and power differences, strong language and adult romantic themes.
A NOTE FROM ME
Guess which 90s cartoon I loved growing up? I just wanted a superhero fam to play with, but less comic book, more realism. I love this grumpy man and have had a blast with him.

Red-haired hockey player, brilliant hacker and excellent driver. Considerably less composed when he likes someone.
