"I WANNA ROCK!"

Pain is almost inherent in the life of a rockstar.

It can be heard in the wail of a guitar.

It can be heard in the buzz of a sitar.

Art is made with only one key ingredient.

This is emotion.

There is no such thing as too much emotion put into art.

Right...?

There is a sort of toxicity among musicians when it comes to defining something as art.

"Your music is too happy, so it’s pop trash, it’s absolute burger music."

Musicians without mental health problems are basic.

A death metal artist who’s never gone through struggle is a fraud.

Calling art that was made with simple emotions "kitsch" as an insult is bullshit.

As long as you put effort and emotion into art, it is art.

That’s not what lots of die-hard music fans believe though.

Some people imbue their music with sorrow, anger, anxiety, and suffering.

Kurt Cobain wrote his songs and channeled his agony into it.

Amy Winehouse wrote about her drug usage and her cynicism with romance.

Hell, Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix were always seen as weirdos.

Jim Morrison died in the city of love.

Their fame flourished because of it.

Some people want to fill the world with silly love songs...

And what’s wrong with that?

Struggle sells.

Critics love it, fans love it.

You’ll go down in history.

Wanna be remembered as Paul McCartney or John Lennon?

Paul’s still alive.

Don’t you wanna live to old age?

Lennon’s still alive.

No, he’s not.

He’s alive in his legacy, in the hearts of his fans.

Don’t you think he’d give it all up for a few more days with his family?

...

That’s not fair.

People love you. Don’t take it. Don’t go down this path.

YOU! NO, I’M SICK OF IT! YOU!

LET ME ROT IF I FUCKIN’ WANNA!

...

Who gave you the RIGHT? Huh? Who gave you the fucking RIGHT to criticize me???

I’m literally in your head, I’m you, I-

I DON’T CARE!!!

Script: (Stick to the fucking script.)

On the bass, we have...

Jane Ingram.

(In a shitty British accent):

She’s the best bloody bass player on the stage.

(Here, the audience laughs a little and claps. If they don’t, mutter 'tough crowd,' but stick to the script, stick to the script, stick to the fucking script.)

No, but, in all seriousness... She’s real fuckin’ good, so give it up for her.

On the ivory keys, we have...

Manny "Ms. Sterious" Lopez.

And last, but certainly not least, you got...

Me, the curator of your evening, which has hopefully been fine-ish...

Edina Gawlstorn.

(Tons and tons of applauses, hopefully.)

We are Amalgam.

Enjoy the show. Or don’t. I ain’t your fuckin’ mom.

I reached 400 a lil while back.

I ain’t done a proper celebration yet.

Here’s a Joshingme original.

Also, it’s spooky month, so...

I thought it’d be a good idea to grapple with the ideas of death in this one.

If you or a loved one are suffering from a mental health crisis, please, call 988 if you’re in the U.S. or Canada, 111 if you’re in the United Kingdom, 13 11 14 if you’re in Australia, 112 if you’re in the EU (specific mental health hotlines vary by country), 12356 if you’re in China, or 1737 if you’re in New Zealand.

If you live in South America (like a lot of the people I love do) or a country I missed, please search up the mental health hotline where you live.

You won’t regret it.

They aren’t just for people who are suicidal, they’re there for people who are going through a hard time too, and they leave you anonymous.

Never be afraid to make that call.

Artist for characters (ponder upon them):

Hitboxsamurai

Artist for the eye (they literally drew it for me, and it was awesome, so give them some love and support, because, honestly, I’m very grateful):

By the way, the template I’m using for personalities was “borrowed” from flapflapflapper (I’m hoping they’re okay with this). I wrote the bot, of course, but the template of the personality is theirs. A lot of credit for my current style of writing should go to them, even if they’re retired.

"I have said it so many times. I’m going to die. I’ve said it so many times, so I don’t want to hear that I should even think about doing another gig."

DEATH:

While writing this bot, I just put on tons of music from members of the 27 club.

I have a playlist now of music from people in the 27 Club, and no, I won’t be sharing it.

Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, Amy Winehouse, Brian Jones...

Robert Johnson, Alan Wilson, Ron McKernan, Mia Zapata, Kristen Pfaff...

Pete Ham, Dave Alexander, D. Boon, Pete de Freitas, Chris Bell...

Even K-pop star Kim Jong-hyun was included on the playlist.

After listening to so much music from these people, I’ve realized how much talent was lost.

But obviously, I realized the more important part.

I’ve realized just how awful it is that they all died this young.

There is lots of pressure put on the people who choose to follow their dreams and pursue a career in the arts, be it musical or visual.

I read peer-reviewed studies, news articles, a student paper on musician mental health, etc.

I did lots of research, and then I decided I wanted to make a bot.

Here we are.

Enjoy the show. Or don’t. I ain’t your fuckin’ mom.
