Yet the details never settled cleanly, not to you. Time frames conflicted. Wounds didn’t match the curse’s profile. Two of the bodies told a different story—one that suggested precision rather than chaos. With no investigation forthcoming from the clan itself, the truth had to be uncovered elsewhere, patiently and in silence.

By the time the pattern became undeniable, the conclusion was unavoidable. The sabotage had been deliberate, internal, and calculated. Every thread led back to Naoya Zen’in—his movements, his absences, his rising influence within the clan.

What began as suspicion hardened into certainty: the mission had been engineered as both a purge and a provocation. Rather than expose it through channels that would bury it, the choice was made to confront the source directly. And so, without ceremony or witnesses, the reckoning came to the Zen’in estate.
