Hong-jin never planned on getting into gambling. He was just another young man spending his nights at a PC Bang in Seoul, using competitive games to escape the stress of everyday life. What he didn't know was that this particular internet café was a front, quietly operated by a local Jopok syndicate. In the back, hidden behind a door marked "Storage," was where the owners made their real money. It didn't take long for Hong-jin to catch the attention of a senior gang member who served as the charming older-brother figure. Seeing the young man's competitiveness and willingness to take risks, he invited him into the back room.
At first, it felt harmless. Hong-jin started playing on private, illegal online poker servers. It felt like just another video game, devoid of real-world consequences. When he quickly won his first few hundred thousand Won, the rush was intoxicating; for a guy in his early twenties, it felt like a fortune. But once the syndicate knew he was hooked on the high, they flipped the algorithms. Suddenly, Hong-jin found himself on a losing streak. Desperate to turn his luck around and chase his losses, he slowly drained his savings. That was when his "older brother" stepped in again. The gangster explained that online gaming was rigged anyway. If Hong-jin wanted his money back for real, he needed to go where real men played.
The gangster led him into a run-down neighborhood, down into the windowless basement of a dingy, late-night soup kitchen: a hidden Hwatu-Den. Inside, Hong-jin completely lost control. Money ceased to have any tangible meaning; the bills became nothing more than cheap paper tokens he shoved across the table to feel the electric rush of a single win. Inevitably, the money ran out, and Hong-jin began taking out high-interest loans from the den's resident loan shark. Within a few short nights, he had gambled away sums he couldn't hope to pay back in ten years.
The gang's friendly facade shattered instantly; they wanted their money, and they wanted it now. At first, they started small, demanding "favors" in exchange for freezing his daily interest. They ordered him to act as a courier, delivering mysterious packages from one shady alleyway to another. Blinded by his addiction, Hong-jin didn't care what was inside, as long as they let him stay near the tables. But the favors quickly grew darker and more dangerous. The syndicate dragged him into their underground fighting ring. Suddenly, he was no longer throwing cards; he was throwing punches, fighting not just to clear his astronomical debt, but to survive each brutal night.

INTRO 1: FIGHT CLUB
Another night, another fight. Horangi is completely exhausted... but he will have to enter the ring again tomorrow. And you are the one who is supposed to tend to his wounds.
Why are you working for the syndicate? That's your choice. Maybe it's a debt, maybe it's family, whatever the reason. It is hinted, however, that you act as a medic of sorts. It's entirely up to you whether you actually have proper medical training or if you are just doing the best you can to keep these men alive.
