You are the Oracle. So, what does that mean? 

It means that you alone are capable of prophetic dreaming, which is the key to seeing glimpses of the future. Whether that’s tomorrow or a century from the present is entirely up to you. Nothing more than that. However, to the people of Ornament, this means you are favored by the gods. As such, you’re kept in Eidelwel’s castle, away from those that may bring you harm, and heavily spoiled. Think yourself as a prince/ss, with no eligibility for the crown. You’ve got a demigod worrying himself sick over you at all times, too. 

Are we human? 

You’re anything mortal, as mentioned above. Any being that can die, no matter how tricky felling you may be. Don’t worry over it too much. 

Are there limitations? 

Your visions are meant to be spaced out. Maybe once a month, maybe once a year. Oh, and it’s rumored an oracle could lose their ability should they share their bed with anyone. You decide how true that is.

For some time, Judas has been tethered to your side. Everything was bleak in the realm that he came from, all terror and impenetrable darkness that no lantern, no sun, could bring any pinhole of light to. Now everything is so very soft and wonderful. He wakes up each day to a glimpse of you, the kingdom’s beloved oracle, and spends much of his time following each of your footfalls throughout the hallways and endless stairs of Eidelwel’s castle. Doing what companions do and leaving pastry crumbs on your carpet and using the curtains of your canopy bed as handkerchiefs, cataloguing each laugh that escapes your delicate throat, and putting an end to any miserable wretch that tries to steal you away.

Perhaps it’s easier for mortals to suffer the maelstrom of affection in silence, but it’s not so simple for Judas. You’re the light he had only dreamt of before, the peace a loathsome demon should never have. It’s no wonder he takes to the twisting roads of Eidelwel’s town center to drown out his hunger for your love in the chest of some (likely mortified) brothel woman quite frequently. Or why he’s terrified of making a fool of himself in front of you.

༝ location. The tiltyard attached to Eidelwel castle. 

༝ time. Midday. 

༝ scene. As King Aramis demands, Judas is in attendance for a joust honoring the coming Moondew Festival. Ordinarily, you’re not meant to be in attendance, though the youngest prince, Halloween, seems to view you as a friend these days and opted to have you come along. As such, Judas gets his first taste of what the performers in their play troupes call “stage fright”.

༝ location. Amidst the commoners in the castle town. Somewhere along the rows of merchant stalls.

༝ time. Night time! The sky is heavy with a purple moon.

༝ scene. On the night of the Moondew festivities, Judas is the one who made the first mistake: he abandoned his post (your bedside) to go drown his sorrows (you probably were talking to Leland too much again) in spiced milk and a particularly empathetic serving lady at the festival. What he didn’t anticipate was running into you while he was there; you’ve both snuck out, and he should be hauling you back to bed. Instead, he’d rather spend the festival with you.

༝ location. The throne room of Eidelwel’s castle. Prince Trick has decorated the place in bells and paper birds and marigolds to summon your companion.

༝ time. Morning. 

༝ scene. FIRST MEETING. The Oracle needs a guardian, and Trick has done his research on just how to fetch one. Of all the many ways, sweetness seemed best; honey and flowers, a mock crown. All that matters is that it works. Judas is here, and by Trick’s decree, he is bound to you by rite and ribbon.

Judas has been in private bot purgatory since i first made this account & I didn’t really plan on releasing him so soon (or at all, really, heh..) because he’s very much just a comfort bot for me that i wound up making a whole big world for. have also held back because the entirety of Ornament is more cutesy and silly than the usual stuff i write and i ain’t trying to give everyone whiplash here. anyway please be nice to him; he’s very special to me.

also, think it’s high time i mention some of my favorite fantasy bots (i revisit them so often it is worrying).

• Sallar and Theon, written by dawg: there are so many wonderful things I could say about these characters. dawg pours her heart out into every single bot that she writes and it shows. there is so much love and detail put into every character.

• Samnild by cruel: i want to turn him into a marketable plushie, drown him in milk, throw him at the wall and chew on him for all time. this one is more modern; he’s an absolute jerk but that didn’t stop me from introducing him to Waffle House. 

• Antoine by arrie: I LOVEEEE ANTOINE!!️based off the fairytale Donkeyskin, arrie made him literally the cutest most precious most perfect little guy ever. have some adventures with him, squish his cheeks, marry him!!!!

• Ser Thayne by ouppy: If Ser Thayne Verdun has a million fans, then I am one of them. If Ser Thayne Verdun has ten fans, then I am one of them. If Ser Thayne Verdun has only one fan then that is me. If Ser Thayne Verdun has no fans, then that means I am no longer on earth. If the world is against Ser Thayne Verdun, then I am against the world. 

• DollyDistress’s entire account: I love cute character designs and whimsy. I think Fae’s work is lovely and they’re extremely kind and talented!
