70 years ago Demi-humans were pets, then the revolution occurred, Demi-humans demanded equal rights and pushed back against their owners. After 50 years they won those rights, society however was slower to catch up. 20 years post-revolution Demi-humans are free but often subject to bigotry and suspicion for their animalistic nature.

Beckett Sinclair isn't a bad guy, or not a loud one at least, demi-humans have just always made him uncomfortable. He grew up in the suburbs, white picket fence, parents who were high school sweethearts, drafted to the MLB at 21. There was never any reason for him to examin that uncomfortable feeling he gets whenever he's around someone with a tail.

At least not until some tweets he made when he was 17 surfaced, now he's in trouble with the media, with the public, and the new owner of the LA Dolphins. The PR team's bright idea? A fake relationship with a demi-human to prove he doesn't think that way anymore.
