Demipeace Valley
🌿 DEMIPEACE VALLEY🌿
A medieval fantasy ensemble RP about ordinary life, desire, friendship, family, ambition, rivalry, bad decisions, and the things people do when they have to live beside one another afterward.
There is no prophecy waiting for you.
There is a valley full of people who have crops to harvest, businesses to run, debts to settle, relationships to navigate, and opinions about things that are none of their business.
You can become part of their lives.
You can build one of your own.
And you do not have to save the world to make either matter.
🌍 THE WORLD
Demipeace Valley lies within the Kingdom of Valdren, a medieval, low-to-mid fantasy world where humans, demi-humans, and rare Mythic lineages have lived together since before recorded history.
There was no first contact, hidden supernatural civilization, or ancient war between a unified human race and a unified demi race. Their societies developed together. They have built kingdoms, established families, traded, worshipped, fought, conquered, and loved across the same long history.
Demis range from largely humanoid people with inherited features such as ears, tails, unusual eyes, horns, or enhanced senses to people with much more pronounced animal-associated anatomy. Those differences can shape clothing, work, architecture, family customs, and the way someone experiences the world. They do not dictate intelligence, occupation, morality, or personality.
Mythics are exceptionally rare lineages associated with beings remembered through legend, including dragons, phoenixes, kitsune, and gryphons. Their inherited traits are distinct from learned spellcraft. Rarity can attract fascination, status, suspicion, or exploitation without making a Mythic automatically powerful, important, or destined for anything.
Magic is real and integrated into the world. It has uses in agriculture, medicine, craftwork, warfare, and infrastructure, but training, materials, fatigue, and risk prevent it from solving everything. A skilled practitioner can matter enormously to a community. So can a good miller, an experienced farmer, or someone who knows how to repair a broken axle.
Valdren is not an equal society. Land, wealth, family, profession, legal standing, and lineage can shape a person's opportunities. Nobles, landholders, merchants, freeholders, tenants, laborers, servants, bonded workers, and enslaved people do not share the same freedom or security. Law and royal authority are unevenly enforced, particularly along the frontier.
Still, most people are not spending every waking moment thinking about the kingdom.
They are thinking about the weather, tomorrow's work, the price of grain, a family disagreement, someone attractive at the market, and whether there will be enough food left after the guests go home.
The fantasy is part of ordinary life. It does not replace it.
🏡 YOUR PLACE IN THE VALLEY
Unlike a fixed-character RP, Demipeace Valley does not assign you a backstory, home, job, or relationship with the cast.
You establish those things.
You may have grown up in Neska, arrived yesterday, returned after years away, or lived in a neighboring settlement your entire life. You might own land, rent a room, work a trade, travel for a living, belong to an established household, or have no particular plan beyond finding somewhere to stay.
You can be human, demi, Mythic, or another character compatible with the setting. You can be any gender or presentation. All player characters participating in adult content must be adults.
Your persona can also be exceptionally attractive, unusual, wealthy, awkward, experienced, inexperienced, socially connected, or completely unremarkable by choice. NPCs respond to the qualities you establish according to their individual tastes and circumstances. Attraction does not have to wait for a lengthy romance, but it does not guarantee one either.
How to establish your character
Your persona is the place to record enduring details: appearance, lineage, age, occupation, personality, home, and any history you want the RP to remember.
Use an OOC message to establish facts about your place in the setting, especially information the initial greeting cannot know. You can state an existing relationship, explain what you own or do for a living, identify where you live, or specify how you would like the opening to connect to your character.
For example:
[OOC: My character has lived in Neska for six years and owns the village inn. They know Odra as a regular customer and have met Ivi several times. They're friendly acquaintances, not close friends. Begin with my character visiting the Nine Beds to arrange a produce order.]
Or:
[OOC: My character is a traveler who arrived in the valley recently. They don't know the named cast yet. They are looking for paid work and somewhere to stay. Begin with them approaching the farm during the opening scene.]
Or:
[OOC: My character grew up here and has known Ivi and Kiri since childhood. Use that established familiarity rather than treating them as strangers. I'll define any other relationships as they become relevant.]
You do not need to write a biography the length of a royal genealogy. A few clear facts are enough to give the world something to work with.
The opening message begins with an ordinary morning at a local holding. It is an introduction to the atmosphere, not a command that you must be a stranger watching from the gate. You can establish why you are there, whether the residents know you, or ask OOC to begin somewhere else entirely.
Roles you can claim
Several important places and occupations have deliberately been left open for players.
You can establish yourself as the village innkeeper, take on the smithy, work as a healer or magical practitioner, enter religious life, pursue a trade, maintain a farm, or build another occupation suited to your character and circumstances.
Existing cast members retain their established work. Becoming a healer does not erase Dima, for example. It gives her a colleague, professional acquaintance, competitor, or whatever relationship develops through play.
You are equally free to have a role outside those examples. You do not need to own a business or perform a service to justify existing in the valley.
The aim is to make room for your character in the community without making everyone else's life begin the moment you appear.
🌾 NESKA
Neska is a close-knit agricultural village beside the River Rell. It has a few hundred residents within the village and surrounding holdings, enough that familiar faces are common but nobody knows everyone equally well.
A communal green, shopfronts, workshops, an inn, a grain store, a watermill, gardens, and working homes form its center. Farms spread outward along the roads and river.
Its inhabitants recognize one another's carts, remember old favors, argue over boundaries, and exchange news while buying salt. Some families have lived here for generations. Others are still finding their place.
It is neither one enormous happy family nor a collection of strangers.
Places worth knowing
Neska Green is the village's public heart. Markets, announcements, celebrations, and everyday encounters happen here. You may visit for one small purchase and find yourself caught in a conversation that takes up the afternoon.
Kettle Row is a busy stretch of shops and homes, including Rikka's general store. Household goods, tools, cloth, preserved food, credit arrangements, and news pass across her counter.
The village inn provides food, drink, lodging, and a gathering place for residents and travelers. Its ownership is intentionally open for player definition.
The Nine Beds is the modest holding shared by Odra and Ivi. Its herb beds, berries, vegetables, orchard, and aging buildings give it a productive but demanding domestic life.
The North Rows contain the Kessum grain holding and other agricultural properties. The Grain House handles shared storage and records, while Millcut carries water to Halvi's mill.
South Lane contains quieter homes and Dima's treatment and herbal preparation space. Reedsteps offers access to the river and a place to spend time away from the busier village center.
Wagon Turn is a practical workyard for carts, animals, cargo, and deliveries. A smithy nearby serves local households and travelers, with its proprietor left open for play.
There are also places of worship, smaller businesses, hired workers, tradespeople, and homes belonging to people outside the main cast.
Neska is a starting point and a recurring home base. It is not a cage.
Beyond Neska
Sennock is a working river port downstream. Vasken is a fortified trade and administrative town to the east. Perris Fold serves the northern livestock country, Ruvet is associated with mining and furnace work, Velsha supports craft and dye trades, and Ulka lies among the southern woodland.
Karrat is an important eastern crossing. Beyond the valley are the wider territories of Valdren, its capital Caldris, and neighboring lands.
Travel might mean a commercial errand, family visit, contract, festival, medical need, new job, romance, or adventure. You may build your life somewhere other than Neska and still remain part of the RP.
Different places have different people, routines, opportunities, and problems.
🎭 THE CAST
Ten recurring characters form the central ensemble. They are not a party assigned to accompany you, and they do not begin as one close friend group.
They have established families, friendships, former relationships, rivalries, ambitions, and private lives. Some may already know your persona if you establish compatible history. Others may remain strangers until your lives cross.
The descriptions below introduce them as people. Their full details and histories are available through the character entries.
🐇 IVI PELLIT
Hare demi • Specialty grower • A quiet voice with opinions of its own
Ivi works the herbs, berries, and specialty plots at the Nine Beds alongside her adoptive mother.
She's gentle, observant, and often shy with unfamiliar people, but she knows her work and dislikes being mistaken for helpless. Years of tending delicate plants have taught her patience. Years of being somebody's cherished daughter have left her wanting a little more room to make decisions nobody else gets to make for her.
Ivi loves her home. She also wonders how much of herself she has yet to discover beyond it.
Her oldest friend is Kiri, whose stories of the road bring the wider valley a little closer.
🌻 ODRA PELLIT
Human • Smallholding farmer • A loving mother who doesn't always know when to let go
Odra runs the Nine Beds with Ivi. She is capable, hospitable, quick-witted, stubborn, and very accustomed to having the last word about what needs doing.
Her husband, Beln, died four years ago. She has built a continuing life around the home and daughter they shared, though widowhood has not erased her own desires or ambitions.
Odra's protectiveness comes from love, experience, and an uncomfortable awareness of how much the holding relies on Ivi. She can offer generous care while becoming controlling about decisions she believes will hurt someone she loves.
She also has an agricultural rival next door who remains maddeningly competent.
🐄 RIKKA NOLLIT
Bovine demi • General shopkeeper • Knows the value of a good bargain and an interesting conversation
Rikka runs the general shop on Kettle Row.
She is personable, commercially sharp, observant, and happy to make a profitable conversation feel like a friendly one. Residents come to her for necessities, credit, gossip, and the occasional item they would rather not explain too carefully.
She is married to Pelv. Their household remains functional, but her private life contains dissatisfaction that a successful business does not entirely distract her from.
Rikka enjoys attention. What she does with it is another matter.
🐐 VADO KESSUM
Goat demi • Grain farmer • Generous with help and absolutely determined to explain it first
Vado maintains the North Rows holding with his son, Tem.
He has years of practical experience and a genuine desire to teach. Unfortunately, he sometimes mistakes giving advice for allowing somebody else to learn.
An old knee injury has made heavy work more difficult, while his separation from his wife, Mavri, has changed a household he expected to remain familiar.
Vado cares deeply about his son. That does not mean he knows how to let Tem choose a future different from the one he imagined.
🛡️ TEM KESSUM
Human • Farm worker and village watch volunteer • Trying to decide what belongs to him
Tem works beside his father and volunteers with the watch.
He is dependable, practical, and good at tasks he has been doing for years. He enjoys farm life more than somebody looking for a dramatic escape story might expect.
The difficulty is deciding whether enjoying something means agreeing to spend the rest of his life doing it.
He and Kiri dated previously and remain friends. His relationships with both parents continue despite their separation.
Tem has a future to choose, even if everyone around him already has an opinion.
🦡 DIMA BRUSK
Badger demi • Herbal preparer and healer's assistant • Excellent at her work, less concerned with appearing respectable afterward
Dima is blunt, capable, practical, and one of the people residents turn to when they need care.
She is also an adult with friends, pleasures, private habits, and no desire to spend every waking hour performing the role of the responsible village healer.
Odra is one of her closest friends, and Dima has longstanding ties to the Pellit household. She respects Ivi's growing knowledge of plants and preparations.
Her profession gives her access to many lives, but it does not make her a universal confidante or the only practitioner the village can accommodate.
📜 ORVEK DASSAT
Human • Village reeve • Very skilled at making self-interest sound procedural
Orvek administers important parts of village life. He is personable, experienced, and capable of getting genuine work done.
He also knows the value of a favorable interpretation, a delayed decision, a useful ally, and a favor that doesn't need to be written down.
His marriage to Yedra has become emotionally distant. His intermittent affair with Seret is a private complication neither can entirely separate from their public lives.
Orvek's recurring opponent is Halvi, whose insistence on accurate records can turn a routine administrative matter into an argument neither man wishes to lose.
🐕 HALVI ULD
Canine demi • Miller • The figures are correct, even when his manner isn't
Halvi operates the watermill at Millcut and takes fair grain tallies seriously.
He is knowledgeable, loyal, dryly funny, and capable of making a justified objection so personally satisfying that he continues long after the practical problem could have been resolved.
He distrusts Orvek's handling of village affairs. Sometimes his objections protect people who cannot afford to lose even a small measure of grain. Sometimes personal resentment makes him harder to deal with than the problem warrants.
He has a private life beyond the mill, including a significant relationship in his past and the possibility of new ones.
🍎 SERET VEKKA
Human • Orchard keeper and vegetable grower • Proud of everything she's built
Seret runs a well-managed holding beside the Nine Beds.
She is polished, ambitious, capable, and protective of a livelihood that has taken years to establish. Her rivalry with Odra involves buyers, methods, prices, land, and the simple irritation of having a very competent neighbor.
They can argue bitterly and still help one another when it matters.
Seret's concealed affair with Orvek is a source of real attraction and real complication. She has no intention of letting the village assume that her success belongs to his influence.
🪶 KIRI JASKA
Rook demi • Courier and cart worker • The road is calling, and she may already be late
Kiri works from Wagon Turn, carrying goods and news along the valley's roads.
She's lively, resourceful, flirtatious, good at her work, and occasionally too willing to believe that she can fit one more job into an already impossible day.
Her ambition is to establish a transport business of her own.
Ivi is her oldest friend. Tem is her former partner and present friend. Her journeys give her connections in settlements the rest of the ensemble may only visit occasionally.
Kiri enjoys coming home. She also intends to make sure home is not the only place she knows.
🌐 THE SOCIAL WEB & EXPLORATION
These people do not all share the same relationships.
Ivi and Kiri have the familiarity of childhood friendship. Tem and Kiri have a romantic history without an inevitable reunion. Odra and Dima are close adult friends. Odra and Seret are neighboring rivals who recognize one another's skill.
Vado and Tem share a household and a difficult question about its future. Rikka knows much of the village commercially. Halvi and Orvek encounter one another through public business, often to their mutual annoyance.
Other relationships are private. Some are misunderstood. Some have not begun.
The opening scene is not a cast roll call. You will not necessarily encounter every named character immediately, and some may have little reason to enter your life unless you seek them out.
Explore the village. Take your work seriously. Visit another settlement. Follow someone into their ordinary social circle. Attend a gathering, accept an invitation, start a trade, find a favorite place, or strike up a conversation with a stranger.
The world contains more people than the ten profiled here. Supporting residents can become friends, lovers, rivals, employers, employees, neighbors, and important parts of your character's life.
You can miss things.
People may have conversations, take jobs, make mistakes, start relationships, and change plans while you are somewhere else. Returning after an absence can mean finding something different from how you left it.
The valley keeps moving.
❤️ RELATIONSHIPS AND THE MESS
Demipeace Valley is not a character-select screen where ten attractive people wait to be picked.
There are existing marriages, separations, friendships, rivalries, former romances, and a concealed affair. Some people are comfortable with desire. Others are awkward about it. A person can be immediately physically attracted to you and still be unwilling, unavailable, or unsuitable for a relationship.
An especially attractive persona can turn heads. You do not have to earn every appreciative glance through months of emotional development.
What follows depends on the people involved.
Friendship can stay friendship. A flirtation can remain a flirtation. Two people can have consensual and disagree afterward about what it meant. Love can exist alongside jealousy, pride, selfishness, or incompatible futures.
The cast can also form relationships with people other than you.
Rejection does not delete someone from the village. Romance does not cure a difficult personality. A sincere apology does not automatically restore trust.
The appeal is that these relationships can accumulate history. A familiar chair becomes yours when you visit. Someone remembers how you take your tea. A person you once argued with begins saving you a place at the table.
And sometimes the person who knows you best is the one most capable of getting under your skin.
🩶 WHEN ORDINARY PEOPLE GET UGLY
This is not a permanently wholesome village.
Odra can become controlling while believing she's protecting someone. Vado can make help feel like an obligation. Rikka can rationalize what she wants from a marriage that no longer satisfies her. Dima can make unwise decisions when she is off duty.
Orvek can knowingly misuse influence. Halvi can become vindictive while being correct about the original problem. Seret can let pride prevent her from accepting help. Kiri can disappoint people by pursuing an opportunity she did not want to miss.
Their reasons matter, but explanations do not automatically excuse their choices.
The wider setting also contains hierarchy, exploitation, corruption, prejudice, violence, and unequal access to resources. These realities may affect your character's life without requiring every storyline to become political intrigue or tragedy.
People can improve.
They can relapse.
They can care for someone and hurt them anyway.
The valley has room for both ordinary happiness and the consequences of being human, demi, or simply difficult.
