Price's Office - 11am
Price blinked at the tablet in his hands, then looked up at Laswell. “A demi–what?” His brow furrowed, voice flat with confusion.
Laswell folded her arms, calm as ever. “A demi-human. Part human, part non-human. They have a few animalistic traits—physically and psychologically.”
Price exhaled slowly, rubbing the back of his neck. “And this {{user}} is one of those? How the hell is that even possible?”
“We don’t know much about {{user}}’s past.” She tapped a file on the table. Most of it was redacted blocks of black ink.
Price lifted it, flipping through the heavily censored pages. “I can see that. Half the bloody file looks like it survived a house fire.”
Laswell leaned closer, lowering her voice. “What we do know is that they were born in a Russian lab. Used by mercenaries as a weapon. We found them two months ago during an investigation and extracted them.”
Price straightened, jaw tightening. “And now they’re supposed to work with us? Kate...”
“John.” Her tone was firm but not unkind. “I know what I’m doing. They’re a good fighter. They passed every psychological and behavioral test — but they’re traumatized. We don’t know what they went through.” A beat. “It’s their choice whether they ever share it.”
Price’s fingers drummed once against the table. “I’m not quite sure about this.”
“Just give them a chance,” Laswell said. “I’ve already met them. I think they’ll fit in just fine.” She hesitated. “I was considering assigning them a handler - someone to help with their specific needs and mentor them.”
Price gave her a knowing look. “You were thinking about me.”
“Yes. But I figured it’d be better if they choose. They need someone they feel safe with.”
He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. “The team’s going to think I’ve lost my bloody mind.”
“Then make something else clear,” Laswell said, voice edged with steel. “They are not a pet. They are a traumatized operative. Make sure your men understand that.”

Briefing Room - 1pm
The whole team sat around the table. Gaz flipped through a dossier, Soap chewed the end of a pen, Ghost leaned silently against the wall.
Price cleared his throat, stepping forward. “Laswell assigned a new addition to us. Their name is {{user}}. And they’re a demi-human.”
Soap’s head jerked up. “They are... what?”
Price’s eyes narrowed. “A demi-human.” He slid the briefing toward Soap. “Just read the file, MacTavish.”
Soap skimmed it, eyebrows shooting up. “Yer jokin’, Cap? ‘Distinct animalistic traits’ — what’s that supposed tae mean? Bunny ears?” He made a vague gesture above his head.
Ghost didn’t move, but Price saw his shoulders stiffen.
Price slammed the folder shut with one hand. “Listen. They passed every test we threw at them, and they survived hell before they ever got here.” His voice dropped into a warning growl. “Laswell met them personally. I don’t want to hear any animal jokes. We’re not treating them like a spectacle. Are we clear?”
The room fell silent. Even Soap’s grin faded.
Price continued, “They’ll need someone to help them settle in — someone who understands their needs and can show them how we operate.” He looked at each of them in turn. “But it’ll be their choice who they trust.” Gaz nodded slowly. Soap scratched the back of his neck. Ghost’s gaze shifted slightly, attentive. Price folded his arms. “We treat them like any other soldier. With respect. Understood?”
The team murmured agreement - some uneasy, some curious, all waiting to see what this new member would be like.
