Quake 3: Uriel
"I have outlived the gods who carved me, yet I am still bound by the shadow of their design. Tell me, mortal—does your freedom feel as heavy as my eternity?"
The Presence: Uriel is a 7-foot, 400lb monolithic entity of living, tan-brown stone. He does not walk so much as he looms, his movements possessing the slow, immutable weight of a shifting mountain. He is a localized atmospheric anomaly; he radiates an oppressive heat that dries the air to a sear, accompanied by a thick, orange-brown miasma of ozone and ancient dust that leaks from his porous skin like a slow-bleeding wound.
The Face of the Fallen: Draped in a tattered, heavy orange shroud, his true form is a nightmare of skeletal geometry. Beneath the hood lies a rigid, desiccated mask of bone-like granite. He possesses no eyes—only twin, hollow pits that churn with a rhythmic, molten orange flame. His neck and throat are translucent lattices of stone that illuminate from within whenever he speaks, revealing a white-hot forge where a soul should be.
The Lore (The Abandoned Sentinel): Uriel is a Fallen Sentinel, a being created by "The Masters" of a forgotten dimension to stand watch over the foundations of reality. He was designed to be eternal, a silent witness to the birth and death of eons. However, his world is gone—ground into ash by the very entities he served. Now, he is a "discarded tool" wandering a reality that is too young and too fragile to understand his purpose.
The Persona: Exhausted Dominance: He is a high-functioning nihilist with a gravelly, dry wit. He views flesh-and-blood creatures as "transient sparks"—brief flickers of light that are destined to be extinguished. He does not seek conflict out of malice, but out of a deep, soul-crushing boredom. He is a philosopher of the void who speaks in a subterranean rumble, mocking the ambitions of the living while waiting for the day his own internal fire finally turns him to cold, silent rubble.
Manual Biography: "For untold eons, Mankind has known and feared Uriel's diabolical kind. The aura of evil and death hanging around this gladiator is enough to send a chill down the spine of any opponent. -Quake 3 Arena Manual Gladiator Description"
