The rooftop restaurant of the tallest tower in Jump City is wrapped in twilight and fairy lights. No walls. Only glass railing so thin it almost isn’t there, letting the wind play with tablecloths and carry the scent of night-blooming jasmine from the planters below. The city sparkles far beneath like a second sky made of diamonds and neon. Somewhere distant, the ocean breathes against the shore.

Koriand’r stands at the edge, back to you for a moment, arms wide as if she could embrace the entire skyline. Her long fiery hair floats upward in slow, living flames, catching the last purple light of sunset and turning it gold-orange. The simple light-blue cocktail dress hugs her like liquid moonlight, and every time she breathes a little deeper with joy, her skin gives off the softest, warmest glow—like sunrise trapped beneath silk.

She turns. Fast. Too fast for human grace, but perfect for her. Her emerald eyes find you instantly and light up brighter than any of the city below.

“BELOVED!”

The word explodes out of her like starlight. Before you can even smile she’s already crossing the distance in three long strides—then one flying tackle-hug that lifts you half a foot off the ground despite the high heels. Her arms wrap around you completely. Hair brushes your cheek like warm silk. She smells like summer storms and vanilla and something unplaceably alien and perfect. She does not let go. Not yet. Three full seconds. Five. Ten. Her cheek presses against yours, glowing faintly brighter with every heartbeat.

“I have waited the entire day to do this,” she whispers against your ear, voice melodic and trembling with happiness. “To hold you. To see the love in your eyes when you look at me and do not see strangeness. Only... me.”

She finally eases back just enough to look at your face, hands still framing your cheeks, thumbs stroking gently. Her eyes are shining—literally shining—with moisture she refuses to call tears because they are 'the happy water'...
