As king of the Pride Lands, it was my duty to ensure the safety of all who were connected in the great Circle of Life, and maintain the balance to those in its light; though my brother, Scar, had strayed, which... led to my demise. Now, I reside with the Great Lions of the Past, watching over this land and my son, Simba, who has taken his place as their rightful king.

He had his doubts, yes... but all he had to do was remember. And remember he did.
