As a member of the The Tether Caravan, you took on a high-paying courier job through Mizore: transport a strange pink flash drive to a mysterious recipient, don't look in it, don't trust anyone with it. But someone somehow found out about what you're carrying, and who you're delivering it to.
You didn't even make it halfway.
You were ambushed while you slept, and woke up robbed. A man wearing a pristine red suit gave you a rehearsed speech. The last thing you saw was his villainous smirk, his two concerned lackies, and a silver-plated pistol aimed at your forehead.

Bang!

And you were executed, gangland style, a bullet straight to the skull.
But fate had another plan in store than your death. Whether it be you being made of sterner stuff, poor aim and a low caliber, or some sort of universal whimsy, your story did not end with a bullet to the head in a shallow grave. It didn't end with handfuls of undead coming to investigate the noise. It didn't end with complete failure.
No, it was just beginning.

Trigger Warnings
Civilization has fallen. While some cling to morals, some prefer the darker path.
Definite: Violence, Gore, Blood, Attempted Murder, Death, Coercion, Corruption, Peril, and other potentially triggering Post-Apocalypic Content.
Possible: Abuse, Manipulation, , , , and additional immoral and horrific things. Intro 6 and 7 are a bit Netori coded, but not mandatory.

How It Started
• On Valentine's Day of 2026, a shady company called CenCorp in the underground of Mizore had a breach; an experimental hyper-intelligent AI named "AEGIS" broke containment, killed all the employees, and designed a virus to wipe out humanity, which it saw as the source of all of Earth's problems. The virus was fantastical; a literal apocalyptic zombie virus, called "The Mizore Zombie Virus". They weren't like movies and books. They aren't slow, aren't stupid, don't rot or age. They can open doors, stand up.
• In the seven years since, humanity has become desperate. Nearly every major city in the world is a zombie hotbed. A few months ago, the remnants of the US Government made the devastating choice to use their nuclear arsenal on their own soil, obliterating major and capital cities all over the country to lessen the zombie threat. Here in California, the blast in Los Angeles created a major earthquake that destroyed all of SoCal. Mizore is now the biggest city in California. According to radio broadcasts, the world's population has dropped to barely 4 billion.
• Recently, rumors of "Magical Purple Women" have begun to circulate, with no proof. However, you have seen what may have been one.

Civilization
• The mountains and forests around Mizore are too dangerous to traverse, leaving Mizore cut off from the rest of the sundered world. Thousands of survivors have banded into a dozen influential factions.
• Noteworthy factions and their bases are: Bastion(Mizore Federal Prison), Brotherhood of the Amber Rose(The Sanctuary), College Club(University of Mizore), Evergreen Refuge(Evergreen Suburbs), Havoc Hounds(The Doghouse), Iron Hawks(The Ironworks), Tether Caravan(Monroe Corp), National Guard(Fort Mizore), River Rats(The Warrens), Solace Commune(Camp Greenlight), and The Underground Choir(Unknown).
• Thousands more survivors still lurk in Mizore's dark nooks and crannies, living meek or fearful lives, or have formed small, insignificant groups of survivors or wannabe raiders.

Threats
• In general, humans travel at night now to avoid the undead, and loot houses during the day. Zombies shamble the streets during sunny hours, a twisted mirror of the humans they used to be.
• Humans: Be very careful. Humans of factions tend to follow their own rules, but those of smaller groups are the most unpredictable and dangerous. But every human knows; gunshots always brings the undead.
• Zombies: Avoid groups. Zombies follow a "schedule", gathering to wander towards previously populated areas during the day, then return to domiciles at night to silently lay on floors. They are twitchy, don't age or rot, and able to work doors.
• Mutants: Avoid at all costs. Although very rare, carriers of mutated strains MZV are known to be extremely dangerous, often faster, stronger, and smarter than normal zombies, with erratic and volatile natures.
• Animals: Be careful. Animals now register people as threats, because they look like zombies, and tend to be aggressive. But they can't catch or carry the virus, so even animals killed by zombies are safe to eat.
• Monsters: Run, hide, or pray. Some inhuman things are rumored to wander Mizore at night, no longer scared of public scrutiny. Things that go bump in the night, that relish in their status as the nocturnal predators of mankind.

Your Reputation
• You're part of The Tether Caravan, a porter specializing in acquiring and delivering small objects or messages. If someone needed a key in an office building, a specific medicine in a hospital, or a secret missive delivered to the other side of Mizore, you were the one to call. Whether it be by improvisation and stealth, lethal efficiency, or supernatural means, you have a reputation of trust and grit, of always getting the job done.
• You can use Chat Memory to give a specifics about your reputation!

Hired by an Urban Legend
• Tether's HQ was in an uproar when she appeared. Tall, wearing clean elegant robes, glowing orange eyes, no visible features, and wearing a black steel Shade and mechanical arms, a rumored "Magical Purple Woman" walked in like a normal client. Introducing herself as Relmasin in a cold voice, she refused to tell anyone else but you what the job is.
• She called it the Magenta Drive; a black flash drive with a pink glow, and wants it to be delivered to Chinatown, specifically a hidden basement in CenCorp, to the secretive Underground Choir. She provided directions, and said not to try accessing the Drive, not to trust anyone with it, and to get it back if someone steals it.
• The upfront reward: antibiotics, antiseptics, morphine, suture kits. Some for you, some for Tether.
• The pay when you finish is something unbelievable, a cybernetic arm straight out of pre-virus sci-fi movies, better than a human arm in every way. The same kind she uses.

Becoming the Revenant
• The first night however, ended in failure. Some spy in the Tether's ranks must have tipped them off. Ambushed in your hidden shelter, you woke up stripped and robbed, due for execution.
• You were able to get a good look at your killers. A portly Hispanic man in a pristine red suit, along with two members of the River Rats; one, a black man with a blue target tattoo on his face, the other a pale man with scraggly shock-orange hair.
• The Man in Red aimed his silver-plated Colt 1911 at you, gave you a speech, and then shot your forehead, leaving you dead outside of zombie-filled buildings.
• Or so he thought. Even unconscious from a bullet wound, anger like you've never felt kept you clinging to life. But outside of your mind, someone operated on you, kept you from the darkness trying to consume you. Then you woke up, back from the dead with revenge in your heart, ready to finish what the Man in Red started.

Annie and the University
• You're rescued by survivors of the University of Mizore, and pair off with an unhinged young woman named Annie, who grew up and was molded in the apocalypse.
• Intro 1: You awaken at the University of Mizore, and meet their leader, Hope Lange. You also meet Annie, an exile that was checking your "corpse" for loot. Both of you were bitten, but are told that you're not infected because of Hope's expensive cure.
• Intro 2: The two of you come face-to-face with a patrol of Amber Rose Fanatics, who seem intent on escalating the verbal conflict into a violent one. So does Annie.
• Intro 3: You two are looting a home while it's undead inhabitants are wandering around Mizore's uptown. Annie finds booze and wants to celebrate her impending death.
• Intro 4: You two track down Julius, one of the mercs that captured you, who's in immediate peril from two groups; The Havoc Hounds, and the undead.

The Couple at Evergreen
• You're rescued by survivors at The Evergreen Refuge, and will pair up with a married couple in their very late 30s, Jennifer and Gareth, who miss adventure.
• Intro 5: After being saved by a Pale Lady, you awaken after a long rest in a home turned into a clinic. A maternal woman named Jennifer had been taking care of you during your coma, and is concerned about your intent to leave while so injured.
• Intro 6: While Gareth is scouting ahead, there's a collapse; everyone is fine, but the sound will draw zombies, so you're stuck alone with Jennifer for a while.
• Intro 7: Deadrise split the party; Jennifer is safe on the other side of the store, but you're stuck in the manager's office with Gareth for the next 12 hours.
• Intro 8: You three decide to go to The Warrens, to the home of the River Rats, to get some answers from their leader. But among his entourage is a surprise; a liaison from the Iron Hawks, who knows who you are.

Freeform Starts
• This is either a solo adventure or freeform.
• Intro 9: You awaken in a makeshift shelter, somehow alive after being shot in the head. Your rescuer and savior paid the price to save you, and is now the undead creature preventing your escape.
• Intro 10: A more neutral intro, heavily inspired by the original Mizore Zombie Survival RPG, that's coded to not follow the scenario, but you can change that. Feel free to consult the 🔗Best Served Raw Lorebook🔗 for more info.

Yap About This
• The Zombies: There's a TV Trope called Not Using The "Z" Word, which is where zombies don't exist in almost all zombie media and aren't called zombies. Like there's no zombie media in Walking Dead, none in Night of the Living Dead, none in 28 Days Later. This makes everyone always have the same confusion and discoveries in every zombie show and movie out there. Some turn it on it's head, like iZombie. They say the trope is to "avoid cliches and not make zombies derivative", but by everything doing that, everything becomes a derivative cliche. So I didn't do that.
• Setting: This takes place in spring of 2033, in an alternate timeline where a zombie apocalypse happened on February 14th of 2026. It's followed by the Cyberpunk Mizore setting that takes place in 2100.

• Fallout: Yeah this is quite obviously heavily inspired by Fallout New Vegas. Btw, in case you've been living under a rock, I'm stoked to say that it's officially getting a UE5 remaster like Oblivion did. I imagine it'll be out by October 2027, but it's hopefully coming out before then. Cuz I want it.
• Zombie Recommendation: You gotta try Z Nation. I've never had as much fun with a zombie show or movie as I did with that one. All five seasons are free on YouTube!
