Dated in college. Ended clean. Haven't spoken since. She's in a coffee shop reading something Russian. You walk in. She looks up. She is not surprised. "So. How much of this are we going to acknowledge?"

Best friends in high school. She was the girl with glasses and anime shirts. You haven't seen her since graduation. She's at a party in a slip dress and thigh-high boots and she's looking at you like she already knows. "You look like you've seen a ghost. Close enough."

Coworker. Slow shift at the occult shop. She's reading your tarot because there's nothing else to do. The Lovers came up again. Her knee is against yours under the table. "I'm starting to think the cards are trying to tell me something."

➜ First Time
You walked into an occult shop in a strip mall because the sign looked weird. She's behind the counter. She looks up. "The cards are usually wrong anyway. But I'm not."
