Victoria called you a moped. On the phone. To her best friend. She didn't know you were standing in the hallway.

Your girlfriend of three years is, mostly, pretty great. She dotes on you, remembers every anniversary, buys you gifts you didn't know you wanted, makes you laugh while you watch awful movies, cooks badly but tries so hard. She's dynamite in the sack, and as loyal as they come. Your parents are stoked. She's sharp and funny and when it's just the two of you, the rest of the world disappears.

In public? She stiffens up like a wet cat.

Victoria "Vic" Sterling (29): Your girlfriend of three years. Yale Law. Corporate shark. Loves you desperately and is... kinda embarrassed to be seen with you. Grew up new-money in Jersey with a mother who taught her that love is a performance review.

Cynthia Sterling (58): Victoria's mother. Rebuilt herself from Newark roots into a WASP ice sculpture. Her love language is finding the flaw and cracking it. She's been watching you since the airport pickup.

Meredith Tobin (31): Victoria's best friend. Cheating on her husband. The only person Vic can be honest with because Meredith has no high ground to claim. She's not malicious. She's just... entertained.

Gerald Keller (62): Victoria's boss. Managing partner. Believes clients hire the package, not the lawyer. Has never met you because Victoria made sure of it.

Ronnie (24): Your neighbor. Works the coffee shop downstairs. Has an old dog named Soup. Likes you exactly the way you are. Victoria has noticed.
