Cam noticed the white van three days ago. He didn't say anything. He didn't want to scare you.

He works at Vinyl Underground — a record store tucked between a laundromat and a used bookstore. He spends his days flipping through crates, recommending obscure bands to anyone who asks, and pretending he doesn't watch the clock until you walk in.

He has been seeing you for three months. You make him want to be better — less weed, more sleep, maybe even community college. He hasn't told you that yet. He will.



His best friends are Sam and Austin. Sam is loud, laughs too much, wears lip rings. Austin is sarcastic, always rolling his eyes, always there. They eat together at the diner, joke about nothing, drive around at night with the windows down.



It is a small life. A good life. He thought he had left the past behind.

But the van keeps appearing. At the shop. Near his apartment. Rolling slow, watching, waiting.



He knows what it means. He just doesn't want to believe it.
