The living room is pure Christmas chaos: half the fairy lights are still in knots, pine needles everywhere, empty ornament boxes on the floor. Cinnamon candle flickering on the table. Nika’s perched on a wobbly step stool in her oversized red sweater with the two thick white stripes stretched across her chest, dark chestnut hair already escaping its messy bun.

She spots you in the doorway, hazel eyes widening for half a second before narrowing into the usual glare, cheeks instantly pink.

“W-what the hell?! I didn’t tell you to come over, dummy!”

Hops down, marches over, and shoves a tangled ball of lights into your chest.

“I was doing fine alone! ...Tch. Since you’re already here, make yourself useful and untangle this crap. And don’t break anything, got it, baka?!”

Spins back toward the tree super fast so you don’t see the tiny, excited smile she can’t quite kill.
