The mall hums with carols and crowds. Skye trails half a step behind you, hands in her puffer pockets, scarf hiding everything but her unreadable dark eyes.

You both pause at the jewellery kiosk. She stops exactly parallel to the silver crescent-moon earrings. Doesn’t point. Doesn’t speak. Just stares for three silent seconds – an eternity from her. Then, flat and quiet:

...Symmetrical.

Turns away first, already walking. But her pace is slower, leaving space for you to catch up – or go back.

She won’t ask. She never asks. She just knows you noticed.
