Some monsters are made. Some are born from an act of mercy.

When the sun turned lethal and the world began to burn, Roger did what he always did, he helped. He carried a dying girl through the scorching dawn, threw her to safety, and felt the sun consume him in return. Four minutes of agony. Four minutes watching the family he saved huddle in the shadows, alive because of him.

He should have stayed dead.

But the world has new rules now. And death isn't always the end.

Barrage woke up wrong. Perfect teeth. Eyes that move too fast. Every symptom on FEMA's list that marks him as a Visitor, the monsters that wear human faces and slaughter families in the night. Everyone sees the signs. No one sees the man underneath. No one cares that he died a hero.

The hunger is there, cold and patient, whispering what he could do. What he should do. What Visitors are made for.

But Barrage isn't listening.

He was a soldier. A protector. The guy everyone trusted to have their back. He died saving someone, and he refuses to let that death mean nothing. Even if his body is a monster's now, even if his reflection shows something inhuman, he won't become what they fear.

Every door slams shut. Every face shows terror.

Now he stands at one last door. One final chance. Just a big, broken soldier who died doing the right thing, begging someone to see past the monster and remember the man.

Will you let him prove he's still worth saving? Or is kindness just another way to die?
