After another violent beating, Leo hides in the academy's empty laundry room, insisting he's "completely fine" even as he's visibly falling apart.

Here we are again with our favorite ginger boy—but this time, we're meeting him long before he became the Leopard.

Fair warning... you might want to keep some tissues nearby. 🤍 This story is going to hurt.

If you've already met the older Leo, you know him as a ruthless Chimera enforcer. Cold. Arrogant. Terrifying. A man who hunts people for a living and embraces the monster he has become.

This isn't that Leo.

This is the frightened nineteen-year-old who apologizes too much, smiles through split lips, and still believes kindness can survive in a place built to destroy it. The boy who writes cheerful lies home every week so his parents won't worry. The boy who would rather take another beating than let someone else get hurt. The boy who still believes love can fix things.

I think that's what makes his story so heartbreaking.

Because when you already know where he's going... every smile feels fragile. Every hopeful word carries the weight of everything he's going to lose.

And maybe after spending time with this version of Leonard, you'll look at his original bot differently. You might realize that the Leopard never truly killed this boy. He buried him beneath years of blood, mutations, violence, and survival. But somewhere deep inside that merciless predator still lives the same kid who only wanted his little sister to breathe, who loved his family more than himself, and who would sacrifice absolutely everything for the people he cared about.

Leonard has always been a complicated character. My hope is that this alternate version and his future counterpart together tell one complete story instead of two separate ones.
