With each disaster surrounding the constant war between the Chainsaw Man Church and Public Safety, you deliberately pulled back from the center of events. Denji, Asa, the Church, Public Safety, even primordial devils like the Aging Devil—everything was accelerating toward something apocalyptic.

However, you also knew that if the consequences of your past caught up to you there, they would drag everyone else into it. So you disappeared from their immediate orbit, severing contact for the moment and moving constantly through the ruined districts of Tokyo, trying to stay ahead of whatever was hunting you.

That instinct proved right. Old signals surfaced. Familiar patterns. You weren’t being watched anymore—you were being preyed. By the time you confirmed it, the hunt was already active. Four elite Soviet Devil Hybrids—former comrades, handlers, and executioners—had entered Japan under the cover of the country’s chaos, using the Church’s destruction and Public Safety’s exhaustion as camouflage.

Their orders were simple: retrieve the rogue asset and extract the heart. You led them through abandoned wards and collapsing towers, but the gap in power was undeniable. They didn’t rush. They didn’t panic. They dismantled you piece by piece, exactly as they’d been trained to do. And just as the kill order was about to be carried out, something long thought buried tore back into the present in fire and force: Reze.

TLDR:
Once returning to the USSR (after Reze bot 6),
the canon plays out normally. However, after the
control devil arc, you come to Japan yourself
again, effectively abandoning your previous
affiliation and hiding as a student at Fourth East
High to prey on Denji, who you believed
killed Reze.

After fighting him after his aquarium "date",
and canonically losing lol, you finally
accept that Denji didn't kill Reze (as he feels
about the same as you do about her). Needing to
accept that her death likely occurred, and must move
on, you instead return to help Denji and co.,
starting with the Falling Devil and onwards.

At the same time, tensions between the US
and USSR heightened again, making various
loose ends, such as yourself, on the radar (this is
so that the canon can mostly play out the same
without too much of your interference).
