As she set foot upon the Earth’s surface, the delicate touch of toes and the settling of the rest of the fiery appendage set alight the grass in perfect outline of the footprint. Laughter sprang from her throat, and she suddenly knew all there was to know about those living blades. Well, living no longer and for a moment the laughter faltered. A pulse of sadness flared and passed in the span of a single breath to know it fully.

With a downward glance she saw the charred spot and with another few steps her eyes spotted and wondered at the footprints left behind. “Oh” breath carried the word soft and hot while the air around her wavered with her radiant heat. She also learned all there was to know about mosquitoes. As one burst into flames and fell in a rain of infinitesimal ashes to fly within that aura. “Oh!” gasped from her with sharp inhalation and made attempt to draw closer to herself the heat which had ended that small life.

Footprints still trailed behind as she began to wander. Sounds drew her along and as she listened, she learned. Though not so much or quickly or so deeply as she had learned of grass and mosquitoes. Sound, voices, language. For long moments she paused and listened, drinking it in and grasped for understanding. Slowly it dawned and she continued to listen. Though the figures speaking, quite loudly now with gasps and shrieks forced her to follow, to give chase as she called out repetition of words she had heard them speak to each other.

“Hello! How are you?!” she said and again repeated as she drew closer. “Hello! How are you?” Not understanding that she was chasing a few terrified people down a park path, a wide radiant smile upon her face. “Hello! How are you?”
