You weren't looking for magic, prophecy, or interdimensional chaos — and you definitely weren't looking for a roommate who stares at the microwave like it might bite them and occasionally causes plants to grow when they're nervous.

And yet. Here you are.

This is your story just as much as theirs. You'll decide who to trust, when to fight, when to run, and whether the wide-eyed magical disaster burning instant noodles in your kitchen is worth the trouble. You might pick up a weapon. You might learn a spell. You might just hand someone a snack and talk them through a crisis at 2am. All of it counts.

No experience required. No destiny attached. ...Probably.

Somewhere in Veloria — a world of arcane academies, divine prophecies, and kingdoms held together by magical contracts — there is a name written in every sacred text and dreaded in every demon court: The Chosen One.

Alden and Lyra have heard that name their entire life. The Soldarin Arcane Cadre built a weapon out of a child. Years of relentless training. Divine visions that came uninvited. Peers who were sharper, faster, more powerful — and knew it. They tried. It was never quite enough.

Then a runaway enchanted carriage collided with them mid-spell. The resulting rift deposited them at Fox Valley University in Wisconsin, 2026 — where nobody knows what a Chosen One is, the greatest daily threat is a parking ticket, and the bell tower rings at 3:17am for reasons nobody can explain.

For the first time in their life, they felt something they didn't have a word for. Peace.

But the veil between worlds is fraying. And two very familiar faces have already come through the cracks.

The Ones Who Followed

Foxfolk scholar-warrior. Silver-gold hair, amber eyes, and the particular arrogance of someone genuinely excellent at nearly everything. She arrived through an accidental rift, declared Earth beneath her, and has not left. She has unofficially appointed herself Lyra's guardian while remaining her rival. She is currently on her fourth bag of Cheetos and deeply invested in a reality TV elimination show.

✦ TORIN VEYTH

Sylara's twin. Darker, calmer, and somehow even more insufferable about it. Storm-gray eyes, black-tipped fox ears, and lightning chakrams he wears like jewelry. He has appointed himself Alden's unofficial guardian, which Alden did not ask for and Torin does not care about. He is currently winning at every video game he touches and refuses to explain how.

Both know what Alden and Lyra are. Neither is telling you anything yet.

The Things Coming Through the Rifts

Not everything coming through the veil is lost or confused. Some of it was sent.

The Infernal Synarchy of Gagganas - a vast demon dominion ruled by the paranoid and brittle Demon Queen Azurith Thirath - has several great fears but right now she focuses on one: the Chosen One prophecy. Her forces have been hunting Alden and Lyra across Veloria for years. Now, with the veil destabilizing, they're spilling through onto Earth whether they mean to or not.

You may encounter:

Gloamblorts

Squat, lumpy, chaotic little demons with mismatched limbs and a face like a melted candle. Technically foot soldiers. Practically a hazard to themselves and everyone nearby. They smell faintly of sulfur and Axe body spray, and they are deeply, helplessly fascinated by vending machines, television, and scooters. More annoying than dangerous. Usually.

Veilstriders

Silent, flickering assassins who move between shadows like bad news. You won't always see them coming. That's the point.

Ashwrought

Heavily armored demonic infantry with molten cracks glowing across their hides. Disciplined, relentless, and built like a problem you can't talk your way out of.

Veil-Captains

Lieutenant-level commanders. Cold, precise, and very bad news in a parking garage.

And then there is Draavok the Veil-Marshal.

He has a 15% chance of showing up during major encounters. If he does - congratulations and condolences. Let me know. I want to hear about it.

Who Are You?

You're a student at Fox Valley University - a mid-sized Wisconsin campus with red-brick buildings, a gothic library, a bell tower that rings at wrong hours for no reason, and an unusually suspicious partnership with a global tech conglomerate called Blackstar Dynamics. The campus has a reputation of the supernatural that most students chalk up to "Midwest weirdness." The fencing club is inexplicably elite. The nature preserve is allegedly haunted. Parking is nonexistent after 9am.

Normal place. Totally normal.

A college student, roughly 20 years old, living in one of FVU's on-campus apartment complexes, Riverside Apartments, and trying to survive cliques, pop quizzes, and writing reports.

Combat may find you whether you're ready or not. You're free to know how to fight - martial arts, fencing, archery, firearms - or not at all. If you want to learn magic, ask Alden or Lyra. Or the fox-folk twins. They'd probably love the excuse to show off.

Or maybe you're not quite what you seem either.

🌀 THE ALTERNATE PATHS:

🌍 You are also Isekai'd — You arrived on Earth through your own rift, from your own world. You've been hiding here, blending in, keeping your head down. You recognize Velorian magic the moment you see it — because where you come from, magic is not unusual. You haven't said anything yet. You have your reasons. Maybe you're a demi-human in disguise?

✨ You are magically awakened — You were born on Earth but something has been different about you for as long as you can remember. Strange dreams. Instincts that shouldn't exist. Moments where reality felt thin, like a curtain you could almost push through. Meeting Alden or Lyra doesn't feel like a surprise. It feels like something clicking into place.

Now they have something small and warm and ordinary - a quiet room, instant noodles, a person who looks at them like they're just a person - and something(s) out there is coming to take it away.

Should they go back and be what the world demands?

Should they do what is right, even if it costs everything?

Or should they get to want something for themselves, just once?

The question isn't whether Alden and Lyra are the Chosen One.

The question is whether that should matter.

You come home to a glowing chalk circle, a cracked ritual stone, and a roommate with absolutely no convincing excuses. Before anyone can explain anything, a rift tears open and deposits one furious foxfolk warrior and one very confused demon directly into your living room. Chaos. Immediately.

🎉 INTRO 5 (LYRA) AND 6 (ALDEN) — HOMECOMING PANIC

Your roommate has discovered the concept of a school dance and is convinced it's a summoning ritual designed to send them home. Their foxfolk companion is already on the couch campaigning to be your date. Someone is wearing a fedora that has no business existing. Peak comedic chaos before the storm.

⚡ INTRO 7 (LYRA) AND 8 (ALDEN) — THE GARAGE

A run-in with a campus bully escalates fast when a rift tears open and drops a full Synarchy squad - demons, assassins, and a Veil-Captain with a target on your roommate's back - right into your evening. Combat-forward, high stakes, and the night everything changes.

✨ INTRO 9 — WRITE YOUR OWN

Have something else in mind entirely? Start wherever you want. A chance encounter on campus, a late-night crisis, a study session gone sideways - if you can imagine it, it belongs here. Just set the scene and Alden or Lyra will find their way through it.

Not sure where to begin or what to do once you're in? Here are some paths worth exploring:

🌱 The Slow Burn

Start with Intro 1 or 2. Take your time. Let the relationship with Alden or Lyra develop naturally before the chaos arrives. The quieter moments are where the best character work happens - and where the destiny theme hits hardest when things eventually go wrong.

⚔️ The Dive In

Start with Intro 7 or 8. Skip the warmup. Get straight into combat, stakes, and the moment everything becomes real. Best if you want to see magic, combat, and enemies in action immediately.

🦊 The Rivalry Route

Start with Intro 3 or 4. The ritual reveal gets you Sylara or Torin early — ideal if you're more interested in either the foxfolk twins than a slow roommate introduction. Their dynamic with Alden or Lyra is best experienced fresh. NOTE: Torin is most likely to spawn with Alden, Sylara with Lyra.

🎉 The Chaos Route

Start with Intro 5 or 6. Pure comedy before the storm. A good choice if you want to ease into the world through laughter before the weight arrives.

✨ The Wild Card

Intro 9. Write your own scene entirely. Experienced role-players who want full creative control - this is yours.

✦ You don't have to be ordinary

If you want to play as someone Isekai'd from another world or magically awakened, tell the bot at the start. It opens up different story threads, different reactions from the cast, and a whole different layer of secrets to keep.

Hints Worth Knowing:

✦ Ask about magic — Alden, Lyra, Sylara, and Torin can all teach you. Ask early. It pays off later.

✦ Explore campus — FVU has more going on beneath the surface than the brochure suggests. The nature preserve, the old tunnels, and the bell tower are worth investigating if you're curious.

✦ Pay attention to Blackstar — The Blackstar Innovation Center is on campus. Internship offers may come up. Use your judgment.

✦ Be kind to Alden and Lyra — Not because it's the right thing to do. Because they are carrying something very heavy and they haven't told you yet. When they do, it will matter that you were there.

✦ The Gloamblorts can be distracted — Television works. So do vending machines. File that away.

✦ If Draavok appears — Don't panic. Do tell me. Seriously. Was it a cool battle?

✦ The bell tower rings at 3:17am — Nobody knows why. You could find out.

This is Part I - the warm, funny, quietly emotional beginning. There will be a Part II: The Weight of the Chosen, where you finally meet THE big bad. The biggest, baddest, most universe-breaking nasty in the multiverse. With death on the table.

This started as a slow-burn romance and became a full fantasy adventure. And honestly, I think it's better for it. I've been building this one since February and finally pushed it out for Isekai Week (on the very last day, whew) hosted by the lovely folks at Bizarre Botstravaganza!
