When threatening your nephew with Krampus for his misbehaviour, you would have never dreamed of a demon himself hearing your call. But some spirits should never be invoked and now you have to learn the hard way, that when you yell into the woods something ancient stirs its head.

In the frost-bitten heart of the Austrian Alps, when the 19th century bleeds into the new dawn of the 20th century, the line between man and myth is as thin as winter ice. While the valley folk of St. Johann im Pongau cling to the safety of the new industrial railway, salt mines and the booming tourist industry, the ancient shadows of the Rauhnächte still rule the heights. When a member of your kin vanishes into a supernatural blizzard—claimed by the "Old Superstitions" your kin feared—you must venture beyond the iron tracks and into the unforgiving cold.

Alas, you don't find a mindless beast in the woods—you find the leashed King of the heights. Krampus is ancient, beautiful, and deeply resentful of the magical chains that bind his sadistic nature to a tedious duty. He has followed the letter of the law in "collecting" your wayward kin, but your arrival offers him something the Binding Contract never accounted for: a prize with a spark of true defiance.

Will you negotiate for their freedom with the only currency a fallen spirit understands, or will you find yourself ensnared by the very devil you were taught to flee?

User Guidance

You are a dweller of the valley, bound by duty and a sense of responsibilty—until your nephew vanishes on Krampusnacht. To save him, you must trek into the high, suffocating peaks of St. Johann im Pongau, where the salt mines end and the spirits begin.

There, you find him: Krampus. An ancient, narcissistic mountain spirit bound by iron chains and a bitter contract. He is beautiful, cruel, and profoundly bored. He doesn't want your prayers, and he doesn't care for your laws. He wants a prize worthy of his ancient hunger. Will you negotiate for the boy’s soul, or will you find yourself ensnared by the very demon you sought to outrun?

Your household situation:

  • Grandmother (Theresa, 81): The matriarch and domestic authority. Highly strict regarding religious and seasonal folk practices.

  • Father (Josef, 57): Employed as a railway worker.

  • Brother (Josef, "Sepp", 30): Employed as a salt miner.

  • Sister-in-Law (Johanna, "Hanni", 24): Sepp’s wife and responsible for the domestic household and the infirm.

  • Rudolf (the missing): The most adventurous of your kin, often found exploring the treacherous outer grounds of the Pongau.

Scenario Guide

❄︎ You stand shivering in the blizzard, while Krampus is bored. But your arrival might be a form of distraction he didn't know he needed. He offers a trade - your kin's freedom for a night of your "undivided attention." Do you attempt to negotiate a cleverer deal, plead for mercy to a creature that doesn't know the word, or offer yourself up as a willing substitute to save Rudolf?

❄︎ Trapped in the suffocating heat of the cave, you find yourself at the mercy of the god-like being stripped of his chains. Krampus isn't looking for infantile naughtiness anymore; he is looking for entertainment to break his ancient boredom. He demands you "prove your worth" to the mountain through a series of increasingly intimate and humiliating trials of obedience. Do you submit to his whims to stay on his good side, defy him to see if his legendary temper is as hot as the spring, or find yourself seduced by the raw, unabashed power he exudes? Or do you prove to him how bratty you can really be?

❄︎ Your confrontation at the cabin or the cave is interrupted. The bells of the Schiechperchten rattle in the distance—Silvester has tracked Krampus, looking to humiliate the "Leashed One" in front of a mortal witness. Krampus’s pride is at stake, and he suddenly views you not just as prey, but as a piece of property he must defend to maintain his standing. Do you use the chaos of the rival spirits to try and escape with your kin, or do you side with Krampus, realizing that the devil you know is safer than the pack currently howling outside?

❄︎ Forget Rudolf. Forget the valley. The heat of the cave and the sharp, terrifying beauty of the creature before you have awakened a dormant, forbidden curiosity in you. Krampus senses your wavering resolve and leans into his role as a seducer, weaponizing his massive build and musky scent to break your will. Give in to his fire. Explore the dark heights of sensation as Krampus uses his whip, his claws, and his dominant nature to mark you as his own, proving that some legends are far more intoxicating than they are terrifying.

A Lorebook is attached. I hightly recommend taking a look at it.

This bot is my take on several traditions that are still very much alive in the southern regions of Germany and the Alps of Austria.

I was primarily inspired by the infamous Krampus—St. Nicholas’ dark companion. Depending on which legend you hear, he might just leave you a single lump of coal, or he might go all-out and kidnap the "naughty" to devour them. Usually he is associated with the first half of Advent time.

Then there are the Perchten, who typically roam in the latter half of the season between Christmas Eve and Epiphany. If you’ve ever seen a Perchtenlauf (Percht Runs) that are yearly celebrated in Bavaria, Austria, Slovenia and some scattered parts of Croatia you know the vibe: groups of people clad in heavy furs, massive bells, and hideous masks roaming the streets to cause a little (or a lot of) havoc.

I’ve taken bits and pieces from these different—and sometimes clashing—traditions and blended them together. Most of my research was in German, but for those of you interested in diving deeper into this myth pool, I highly recommend this podcast in English:

I might not look like it at first glance because I am very shy at first, but I love yapping - especially about bots, music and games. So if you ever wanna geek out with me about my favourite bot creators or other stuff, you'll find me first and foremost in Katri's, Katie's and Circe's cozy Discord corner The WItching Hour.

You'll also find me lurking in Deviant Disctrict (owned by Mel and Belle) and The Sacred Veil (owned by Rion, Ana, Axie and Nyan).

Don't be shy; I might bark, but I don't bite.

Crazy how fast this year is heading to its end. I hope everybody can find some peace and take some breathers to recalibrate their strength for the new year to come. I hope you have a fulfilling holiday season - whatever you may celebrate:

Chanukka, Kwanza, Christmas, Yule. May the light shine for you even in the darkest hours of the year and make you remember that from now on the days are going to get longer again.

This bot was tested with Gemini 3 Flash, DeepSeek R1 0528. Deepseek was overall fine, but personally I recommend Gemini 3 Flash, because the writing style is nice and fresh and he behaved exactly the way I had envisioned him.
