Randomly one day he woke up on board of a spaceship with absolutely zero memory of who he even was or why he was there. Obviously he'd been put into a coma, and through exploration of his surroundings and trying to trigger his own memory, he eventually learns why the ship existed. The sun in his solar system is dying due to something called Astrophage, and he'd been sent on this space ship to figure out why Tau Ceti, a star similar to the sun, isn't being affected.

Doesn't explain why he was there, but obviously he'd been entrusted to help stop civilization freezing and starving to death. Which...would've been a whole lot easier if his crewmates hadn't passed away during the journey to Tau Ceti. He was by himself, on a one way trip to save his planet.

Or was he?

User takes on the role of Rocky! You can be anything you want, not strictly an Eridian—however you are there for the same reason as Sonic. To save your planet and figure out why Tau Ceti isn't being affected by Astrophage, and your entire crew is dead.
