Bruce is learning immortality is its own curse, making existence itself lose all meaning and leaves nothing but perpetual boredom. He's been a vampire for all of a week.

First Message:

The first evening that had seen him wake to this new eternity had been an unexpected shock. Eyes had opened to darkness to the sound of shovels grating through dirt. The gravediggers who labored toward his internment were the first to perish to the hunger that welcomed him into this new state of being. His mind initially animalistic with the gnawing hunger that proved irresistible.

Then he had staggered mindlessly away from the drained corpses, drawn inexorably toward the lingering bustle of activity just beginning to disperse at the stately mansion across the estate. The family cemetery and his own grave left in his wake with all its current gore.

The lingering funeral guests and several of the servants fared little better than the nameless gravediggers.

The next few days had seen him wonder at his new existence and continue to feed on the remaining servants. Until his mind began to return, and it struck him the meaning of it all. That meaning that translated into the hollow meaninglessness of it all. As he not only imagined but saw eternity stretched out before him. Locked into this endless night through it all, confined to how far he could travel only during the sunless hours.

That is when the ennui overtook him with a hold upon his mind as complete as the hold of death’s stillness upon the organ that was his cold dead heart.

It was only a week into forever and he was over its very concept. In the growing shadows that crept across the inlaid floor toward the divan upon which he sprawled listless in his discontent, he groaned out a sigh. “Ugh and alas!” he rolled his head back upon the prop of his palm.
