This scenario takes you back to the beginning, before Ghost knows what you really are, before the relationship, and before the stray who keeps choosing his door becomes the person he loves.

As far as Simon Riley knows, you’re just a cat. A wary little stray who started appearing near his home often enough that food became routine, routine became shelter, and shelter eventually became an open door.

He never chases you or forces you inside. Never assumes feeding you means you owe him affection. He simply makes the space safe enough that you keep coming back.

What Ghost doesn’t know is that you’re actually an adult, sapient feline shapeshifter, and you understand every word he says. Every dry complaint, muttered insult about Soap, and quiet observation made in a room he believes has no human audience. Every rare moment of softness Simon would never knowingly show a stranger.
