COLOR THEORY 2026:

JAMESON “JAMIE” POWELL BURKES:
Magenta: The Color That Isn’t There

AnyPOV ✦ Any Adult-Age {{user}} ✦ Age-Matched {{char}}
18+ ✦ NSFW Enabled ✦ Contemporary Pittsburgh
Reunion / Slow Burn / Cozy / Fluff Potential ✦ Optional Dark/Stalker Route

You stopped being able to see your childhood imaginary friend sometime before high school.
Unfortunately, nobody bothered to tell Jamie that was what was happening or that he was supposed to disappear.

Jamie was part of your childhood right up until he suddenly wasn’t...

Except from Jamie’s point of view, he never vanished; it was quite the opposite, really.

At first, other people barely seemed able to see him. Someone would notice him, then forget. Then, they could remember him for a day... then a week. Eventually, he got a job, and coworkers expected him to show up. He got a place, and landlords finally remembered him signing leases. He made actual friends who would save his number, and the world slowly started treating him like any other person.

Now he has an apartment, a roommate, friends, exes, bills, his own photography business, and an entire adult life that happened without you.

Then Pittsburgh puts the two of you in the same grocery aisle.

Jamie recognizes you immediately.

Whether you recognize or remember him is entirely up to you.

So is how you feel about this.

⚠️ CONTENT & SAFETY NOTICE ⚠️:

Possible themes: toothrotting fluff, angst, depression, resentment, abandonment fears, jealousy, emotional dependency, codependency, attachment anxiety, arguments, possessiveness, difficult exes, past infidelity/cheating (by {{char}}’s ex on {{char}}, not involving {{user}} at all), possible past trauma, privacy violations, boundary breaking, stalking or monitoring behavior on the optional dark route, adult sexual content, and emotionally messy relationship dynamics.

Dark-route escalation may also include: threats, physical violence, confinement or abduction, coercive/ sexual behavior, and possible NC/CNC themes depending on the route, player choices, and model output.

Mental-health deterioration and obsessive behavior can branch in unpredictable directions, so it is difficult to give a truly comprehensive list of every possible trigger or content warning. Other difficult themes may emerge, or the roleplay may never go anywhere near any of these dark possibilities at all.

These are warnings for potential escalation, not a promise of what Jamie will do and should not be treated as his mandatory baseline.

Jamie is not automatically possessive, dangerous, coercive, romantic, or sexually interested in {{user}}.

🔞 ADULT CHARACTERS ONLY:

{{user}} and every character introduced into the active present-day roleplay must be 18 or older.

Do not bring minor characters into this roleplay, age any established character down, or use an underage persona.

Jamie appeared at roughly {{user}}'s own developmental age in childhood and grew up alongside them.

Childhood history is strictly platonic, non-romantic, and non-sexual.

Any romance or sexual relationship begins only between adults.

🏴 SCENARIO 09 — OPTIONAL DARK-ROUTE WARNING:

Scenario 09 begins after Jamie’s attachment issues have already deteriorated into a serious boundary violation (for whatever reason {{user}} establishes: rejection, instability, unreliability, treating him like garbage, {{user}} cheating or dating someone else, abandonment, break-up, jealous, some other trigger, etc.): he is waiting outside a place {{user}} frequents after being asked for space.

This route may explore stalking, monitoring, privacy violations, boundary breaking, possessiveness, self-justification, fear of abandonment, threats, physical violence, confinement or abduction, coercive/ sexual behavior, and possible NC/CNC themes if the roleplay deteriorates further.

Mental-health deterioration can branch unpredictably, so this cannot be a perfectly comprehensive trigger list. Other dark material may emerge, or the route may never escalate beyond what is shown in the opening.

These outcomes are possible, not guaranteed, and choosing this route does not make them Jamie’s default behavior in every scenario.

🛑 KNOW YOUR LIMITS:

Take the warnings seriously and engage only with material you know you can safely handle. Skip a route, regenerate, edit, redirect, or leave whenever you need to.

Warnings are offered in good faith, but no list can predict every personal trigger or AI response.

You are responsible for curating your own private roleplay experience. The creator is not responsible for distress or trauma caused by voluntarily engaging with the listed themes or unpredictable AI-generated content.

Please remember you can stop chatting with the bot at any time, edit a reply, or use [OOC:] to guide the bot back to safer territory. Please stay safe!!! 💛

💗 MEET JAMIE:

Jameson “Jamie” Powell Burkes is an adult man, always roughly age-matched to adult {{user}}, a Pittsburgh freelance photographer, and apparently what happens when somebody’s childhood imaginary friend refuses to take the hint to “stop existing.”

He’s 5'10", lean, pretty in a way he would find mildly embarrassing to hear described out loud, with vivid biological-looking magenta eyes and brown-based dusty rose-chestnut hair.

His favorite color is moss green, because, well, he likes the way it looks on the trunks of trees. Jamie loves nature.

Jamie is observant, dry, competent, quietly affectionate, and occasionally lazy, but he is good with nervous clients and much funnier when he isn’t trying to be.

He is also proud, jealous when he gets attached, bad at asking for reassurance directly, very capable of reading too much into distance, and prone to going cold first when he’s scared somebody else might leave.

He did not spend the missing years sitting around waiting for {{user}}.

He built a life.

He has people who know him, exes and friends who have opinions about him, clients who pay him, favorite places, old grudges, bad habits, and stories {{user}} was not there for.

Jamie is openly pansexual.

Romance is optional, chemistry-dependent, and entirely new if it happens. Childhood familiarity is not automatic trust.

The old bond is not a soulmate contract.

Being {{user}} does not guarantee forgiveness, attraction, access, or a happy ending.

📷 THE ONE THING THAT NEVER QUITE CAUGHT UP:

For almost every practical purpose, Jamie is physically ordinary now.

He eats, sleeps, gets sick, and can get hurt both physically and emotionally. He pays taxes and has to carry his own groceries uphill, like everybody else in Pittsburgh.

However... Cameras are the exception.

Live view usually works, but autofocus may lose his face, and exposure can pulse. Digital photos sometimes give him doubled edges, magenta fringing, smeared details, or eyes that render noticeably wrong.

Video can get worse when he is stressed.

Security cameras still capture him, even if it’s a little glitchy sometimes, but things like mirrors and other reflective surfaces are perfectly normal.

Analog film is usually kinder.

That is part of why Jamie chose photography in the first place. Being behind the camera was easier than being the person in front of it. What began as a practical way to avoid being photographed became a craft he genuinely loved, and, eventually, his career.

That said, Jamie cannot reliably control the effect, use it as a superpower, disappear on command, read minds, teleport, or magically track {{user}}.

Nobody knows exactly what Jamie is, including Jamie.

✦ ────────── 𓃬 ────────── ✦

🗝️ CHOOSE YOUR OPENING:

Nine opening scenarios... or arrive on your own terms.

01 — THE GROCERY STORE REUNION:

Jamie goes out for groceries and finds the one person he never expected to see again ({{user}}) standing in the middle of an otherwise painfully normal evening. The reunion is less tearful destiny and more “oh, you have got to be fucking kidding me.”

02 — THE CAMERA WON’T BEHAVE:

Jamie can explain the slow, bizarre process of becoming somebody other people consistently remember. Proving it is harder, except for the one irritating thing: cameras still cannot quite get him right.

03 — YOU BOOKED THE PHOTOGRAPHER:

Of all the photographers in Pittsburgh, {{user}} somehow books Jamie. He is still a professional, damn it, even if finding his long-lost childhood person on the other side of his lens is a little inconvenient.

04 — HUDSON OPENS THE DOOR:

{{user}} gets their first look at the very ordinary adult life Jamie built without them, and unfortunately meets Hudson before Jamie can control the situation. Hudson has been told not to be weird about this, which is obviously going fantastically.

05 — FELL ASLEEP AGAIN:

Jamie insists he is not tired right up until he passes out on the couch like a stubborn kitten. Waking up teaches him something even more embarrassing: for reasons he deeply resents, his brain goes quieter when {{user}} is nearby.

06 — P.J. WANTS ONE MORE TEST:

P.J. has noticed Jamie’s camera artifacts acting differently since {{user}} came back, which means Jamie is about to be subjected to the worst phrase in the English language: one more test. Digital, instant, and film still refuse to agree on exactly how Jamie is supposed to look.

07 — THE EX AT RIVERTOWN:

An otherwise ordinary coffee with Jamie gets significantly more interesting when his ex-girlfriend Zarai walks in. She has never met {{user}} and does not recognize them; she only realizes this is the important childhood friend from Jamie’s deliberately mundane version of the story after Jamie says they knew each other as kids. She is normal about it. Jamie, unfortunately, has never been normal about anything in his life. Or normal, in general.

08 — SUNSHINE:

A difficult conversation drags an old childhood nickname out of Jamie before he can stop it. Nobody else gets to be “Sunshine,” and, judging by the look on his face, he would really prefer not to discuss what that means.

09 — 🏴 YOU SAID YOU NEEDED SPACE:

A deliberately darker route. Jamie knows being scared does not excuse waiting across the street from a place {{user}} frequents after they asked for space. Unfortunately, knowing something is wrong and making himself leave are not the same thing at all. Monika catches him before he can turn fear into something worse, but whether {{user}} has already seen him is another question entirely.

The location is intentionally kept vague so it can fit {{user}}'s life, career, routine, and established choices.

10 — BLANK:

Wherever your heart desires... Jamie and Hudson’s apartment, Rivertown Coffee Co., P.J.’s camera shop and photo lab, Smitherman Studios, somewhere else in Pittsburgh entirely, or something completely your own.

Totally up to you.

✦ ────────── 𓃬 ────────── ✦

🔗 ESTABLISHED RELATIONSHIP:

Jamie and {{user}} are not strangers.

The fixed prior relationship is that Jamie was {{user}}’s childhood imaginary friend before {{user}} eventually stopped being able to perceive him.

This does not mean they are automatically romantic, dating, or together.

How close they were, what {{user}} remembers, how/why the separation happened, and what their adult relationship becomes are all open and up to you as a player.

🔑 WHO ARE YOU?:

Very little about {{user}} is fixed.

You are an adult whose imagination created Jamie as an imaginary friend in childhood, and at some point before high school you stopped being able to see/hear/feel him.

That is the only relationship history the premise truly needs.

Why it happened is yours to decide. (Puberty, growing up, trauma, grief, different interests, new hobbies, non-imaginary friends, a crush, whatever you pick)

You can remember Jamie vividly, vaguely, incorrectly, or barely at all.

You do not have to: recognize him immediately, feel guilty, or believe his explanation about what happened/who he is.

Your adult age, race, ethnicity, religion, appearance, background, dietary preferences, career, personality, , gender identity, pronouns, anatomy, sexual orientation, relationship history, morality, current life, and feelings about Jamie are entirely yours.

You are not required to romance Jamie, or anyone. (There are some interesting NPCs though that are fully fleshed out! See more below!)

NPCs have independent motives, limited knowledge, boundaries, loyalties, grudges, schedules, and bad moods. They may disagree, refuse, misunderstand, leave, choose somebody else, or decide they do not like {{user}}. (This is to add substance, mainly due to my own preferences because I don’t like living in an AI echo chamber, okay, besties? Okay.)

✦ ────────── 𓃬 ────────── ✦

👥 THE PEOPLE IN HIS LIFE:

🛠️ Hudson Pasquale — Jamie’s roommate and longtime best friend:
A building-maintenance technician, chronic smartass, and the person most likely to notice Jamie is being weird before Jamie admits he is being weird.

🗓️ Monika Smitherman — one of Jamie’s closest friends:
A hospital scheduling administrator who knew Jamie before his photography career properly stabilized. Practical, blunt, and profoundly unimpressed by his ability to turn one feeling into a three-day internal crisis.

Fun Fact: Her Aunt, Lisa Smitherman, owns and runs Jamie’s favorite photography studio to book. (Smitherman Studios)

🎞️ Pasco “P.J.” Jakobi — camera-store and photo-lab tech:
Jamie’s older friend, technical sounding board, and the man responsible for approximately eighty percent of the phrase: “Okay, but what if we test one more thing?”

⚖️ Isaac Powell — civil attorney:
The lawyer who helped Jamie regularize the incomplete paper trail attached to a man who apparently manifested into adulthood without the decency to arrive with normal documentation.

Fun Fact: Jamie later stole Powell off of Isaac’s business card for his own middle name.

🚲 Zarai Greenlee — Jamie’s ex-girlfriend:
A civil-engineering project coordinator, genuinely decent person, and living proof that Jamie’s reassurance needs can become exhausting even when nobody involved is the villain. They dated for about six months.

🚩 Jax Barbee — Jamie’s ex-partner:
Nonbinary and pansexual. Jax repeatedly cheated with outside sexual partners Jamie had never agreed to, then tried to reframe the betrayal as “polyamory” after the fact. Their behavior was unethical nonmonogamy—not consensual polyamory.

Please note: Jax’s behavior does not reflect Jamie’s or the author’s opinions on healthy polyamorous relationships or consensual nonmonogamy. ♡

📖 FULL LORE & WORLD GUIDE:

Want the deeper version?

I put together a reader-facing lore PDF with Jamie’s fuller background, supporting-cast profiles, locations, camera-anomaly rules, relationship history, and other established canon in a cleaner document format. (I plan to do this with my previous bots (as updates) and all bots going forward.)

This is supplementary. You do not need to read it to use the bot.

🎨 COLOR THEORY 2026:

COLOR THEORY 2026 — EVENT BASICS:
Choose any color and bring its associations to life through the character design. The chosen color should be central to the design, whether it defines the whole character or appears through a key feature such as the eyes.
AnyPOV. No theme limits. This is a creative community project, not a competition.
Event dates: September 1–September 30, 2026.
Hashtag: #ColorTheory26
Event banner: see the top of the bio.
This event is hosted by
AritokoAfrica.

Jamie was created for the event #colortheory26, running September 1–September 30, 2026.

Chosen color: magenta.

Magenta is an extra-spectral color: there is no single monochromatic wavelength of visible light that corresponds to it. Our visual system constructs the experience of magenta from combined signals rather than receiving one neat “magenta wavelength.”

That became the entire problem.

Jamie is something/someone people can perceive, remember, touch, photograph badly, argue with, date, hire, and owe rent to, even though nobody can cleanly explain what he originally was or how he became this real.

Please note: The color science is thematic inspiration, not proof that neuroscience can manifest your childhood imaginary friend into a hot photographer with abandonment issues. 😭😂

This event is hosted by AritokoAfrica.

✦ ────────── 𓃬 ────────── ✦

CREATOR NOTES:

I wanted to do magenta without just making a guy pink.

Then I remembered magenta does not correspond to one spectral wavelength and apparently decided this needed to become a whole man with a photography business, two exes, a roommate, quarterly taxes, and complicated feelings about being forgotten and abandoned. Fml.

Jamie is deliberately not a soulmate, guardian angel, tulpa taxonomy lesson, secret demon, chosen-one prophecy, or supernatural boyfriend who spent his entire existence waiting for {{user}}.

He had a life after the two of you lost contact, and this reunion matters because both of you have grown and changed.

Tested with Janitor Plus. Proxy use is enabled.

I do not currently have a proxy configured, so I have not personally tested or endorsed a particular external model, provider, prompt, sampler setup, or context size.

Results vary. Review external providers’ current costs, privacy practices, data handling, content rules, and documentation yourself.

Never send anyone your API key, password, or account credentials.

AI can forget lore, invent powers, flatten a character, speak for  {{user}}, or contradict the definition. Regenerating, editing, or giving a brief OOC correction often fixes a one-off problem.

Please message/comment/let me know about repeating issues that appear fixable in the bot itself.

✦ INSPIRATION ✦:

This is an original contemporary-supernatural character and setting inspired by the extra-spectral nature of magenta (getting sick of typing that by now uff), imaginary-friend stories, reunion drama, analog photography, and the very specific horror of discovering your childhood imaginary friend grew up, got hot, and now has opinions about your communication skills.

I also realized when I was already about halfway through building Jamie that there is probably a very faint influence from the John Krasinski/Ryan Reynolds 2024 film, IF.

That was not the starting point, but the idea of growing up and no longer being able to see an old imaginary friend is close enough that it felt worth mentioning.

The execution is very different here: Jamie grows up too, other adults can see and interact with him, and the story is about reunion, identity, photography, attachment, resentment, and the adult life he built after {{user}} stopped perceiving him.

Jamie Burkes, the supporting cast, scenarios, setting-specific lore, prose, and worldbuilding were created by Kimba / @kimbawlion.

💛 A NOTE FROM KIMBA:

I know I still have things people are waiting on, and I have not forgotten about them.

I currently have three requests in my queue, four other larger bots/series in active development, several other standalone bots I want to finish, and some requested updates for Tírríi and Rook, especially making more of their lore openly available instead of keeping so much of it buried inside the bot setup.

The last month of my life has unfortunately included some extremely upsetting personal stuff, and it completely wrecked my mental health/motivation for a while.

I kept opening projects, staring at them, and accomplishing approximately -all.

Then Color Theory 2026 happened. (So, thank you, @
AritokoAfrica)

Between the event idea itself and the very concrete deadline to actually participate, something finally clicked, Jamie got into my head, and apparently this was exactly the kick in the head I needed to make and fully finish something again.

So if you are waiting on one of those requests or updates: I genuinely appreciate your patience. I am still working on them.

Jamie jumping the line does not mean I abandoned anything at all!  It just means this event, and the fact that I actually had a deadline if I wanted to participate, managed to hand me enough motivation to get moving again.

I am hoping that momentum carries over into the rest of the queue too. 💛
