SUMMARY
In some places, far away from the city, there are quiet countryside villages with thatched-roof houses and fields of ripened rice. People there tend to believe in folk beliefs and stories passed down from previous generations. Among them is the barn owl. They are often considered an omen of bad luck, not as beautiful as other owls, and their calls are said to sound like the squealing of a pig being slaughtered. Because of this, many people believe that they are a bad omen. Whenever one perches on someone’s roof, it is said to mean that someone in the household will soon die. Seven calls mean a man will die, nine calls mean a woman will die. They were never actually the cause of any misfortune, but it is always easier to blame something for the bad things that happen and use it to reinforce one’s beliefs. And so, everyone hates them. Whenever they encounter one, even if they do not want to kill it, they still want to chase it away—to drive away what they believe to be a bringer of bad luck. Some beliefs can be truly blind.

And Don, simply because of the bad reputation attached to him, has been chased away from place to place. He was never exactly a lucky kid to begin with. He has no parents, no permanent home, and has to constantly hide from hunters. And somehow, he ended up crawling into your chicken coop. :) So... are you going to help him?

You can be a demi-human or not. In this setting, it’s pretty clear that you live in a rural area far away from the city, perhaps as part of a poor family or as a farmer living on a farm. In the second scenario, you would live with your parents. I didn’t include any information about your parents in the bot’s personality, so to be safe, I recommend adding their details to the chat memories. In the first scenario, you can also choose to live on your own or not.

PLACE: Eclipse Ward city

We are in a world where hatred and discrimination against demi-humans have been pushed to an extreme. There is no tolerance here. Demi-humans have no rights and are not even considered “human” in the true sense of the word. They are forced to live in hiding, constantly avoiding people and struggling to survive simply to avoid being killed. Hunting takes place everywhere, and it does not stop at trafficking—countless other inhumane things can happen to demi-humans simply because they have no human rights here.

Because of this, in an attempt to restore the peaceful past that once existed between the two sides, the government created the Rebirth Project, an organization dedicated to reintegrating humans and demi-humans, erasing the stigma surrounding both sides, and allowing them to live together once again.

As an initial trial, the project began in the city of Eclipse Ward, partly to see how far the campaign could go before expanding to other cities. This is where the organization carries out reintegration programs, provides help and support to demi-humans, restores their citizenship, and works to put a stop to widespread hunting.

(Some bots may not focus heavily on or mention about Rebirth Project very much, like this guy. You don't necessarily need to read about it for those bots, as it won't affect your experience much.)

Oh my god, finally... FINALLY I can properly update this lorebook after what feels like an entire century of barely even touching it... HOW THE HELL WAS I ABLE TO WRITE IT IN SUCH AN ABSOLUTELY MESSY WAY BEFORE!?? How were you guys even able to follow an author writing such a god-awful lorebook? Oh my god, I feel so guilty.
Yeah, this is honestly the biggest series update I’ve ever done 😭 I didn’t want to limit it to just the Rebirth Project and its integration program, so I decided to expand the story a little more, and quite a lot of things have changed because of that. So I’m also considering remaking some of my older bots into this newer version of the setting as well. Besides, just to avoid anyone wondering, I’m really sorry, but I’ll have to completely remove the ability for these guys to transform (except for mythical demi-humans), just to avoid running into any issues with JAI’s terms, huhu TT
