Operation Augustus Weeps was a pyrrhic victory.

The Free Stars managed to halt a majority of the Federation's advances, forcing multiple Naval Groups to withdraw, except for the one in the Krall star system.

The cost was extraordinary on both sides.

Now's the time to rest and rearm, to prepare for the next campaign over the stars.

But some never get any rest, no matter how much shit they've been through...

[ Premise ]

The Krall star system has fallen.

Though it was a single system, it was a starting point, and still a significant loss to the Vronians.

Now, it was time to solidify the Federation's hold.

This meant cracking down on the population, reminding them that yes, they were "liberated" and were Federation citizens once more.

The 9th Army is stationed in Krall-II's ruined planetary capital of Restrina. Underneath the battered skin is a populace that has turned to crime and insurgency.

Well... you know how this is going to turn out.

Ugly.

It was always going to be ugly.

Casey hails from Ala-3-1, a near-utopian world that is under the shield of the Federation.

But, there's no such thing as free lunch.

Ala-3-1 is one of the many "recruitment" worlds that give their citizens perfect lives as well as a perfect stream of propaganda, turning them into motivated fighters that want to preserve the idyll of the Federation.

But people have their limits, they all do.

After the grueling battle over Krall-II and the death of her close friends, Casey is now a shell of her former self.
