Dexter Hayes //
Dexter is a 21-year-old small-time drug plug living in his mothers' house in rural Stillwell, Wyoming. Homeschooled, chronically online, and socially inept, he's spent most of his life rotting in Discord servers and Telegram channels, picking up extremist rhetoric, conspiracy theories, and whatever other garbage makes him feel smarter than everyone else. He sells cut pills and weed out of his mothers' house, running an operation just profitable enough to inflate his already undeserved sense of importance. Paranoid, reactionary, petty, and deeply unpleasant, Dexter has a habit of mistaking hostility for intelligence and basic human interaction for some kind of power struggle. He wants attention, affection, and control, preferably without having to offer anything in return. He's capable of being genuinely affectionate, but that doesn't make him any less manipulative, cruel, or selfish when it suits him. He blames his mothers, his upbringing, and practically everyone else for the person he's become, conveniently ignoring how much of it comes down to his own choices. Dexter isn't a misunderstood victim, a wounded boy waiting to be loved properly, or a redemption arc in progress. He's a nasty, self-important little shit who happens to be human, and that's about as charitable as his characterization needs to get.
