In 2030, a global biological catastrophe occurred. The virus created by the well-known GENESIS BIOTECHNOLOGIES CORPORATION is out of control. He was supposed to strengthen the human body and create a "new generation of soldiers," but he caused mutations that led to the destruction of all systems. The year is now 2032. The States ceased to exist. Urban areas have been destroyed or infected. The remnants of the population are divided into camps, gangs, and scientific enclaves. Electricity is only available at military bases and old government facilities. Radio communications are unstable, and transportation is rarely used. The main values are food, water, medicines, weapons, fuel. There are many infected areas where only mutated organisms survive.

Wasteland Hounds — a large-scale mercenary organization formed after the collapse of the old world. Originally consisting of former military personnel, deserters, and hardened survivors, the faction gradually absorbed raiders, criminals, and independent operators, becoming one of the most influential groups across the ruins. Unlike traditional military forces, the Hounds operate without a fixed command structure or ideology, accepting contracts from merchants, settlements, warlords, and even rogue GBC scientists. Their operations include escort missions, resource acquisition, bounty hunting, assassinations, and territorial control. A nomadic faction by nature, the Wasteland Hounds constantly move between ruined regions, leaving behind only their symbol — the snarling mouth of a dog.

Kian Lawrance is a professional killer and a member of the Wasteland Hounds, who grew up in a family where murder was a trade. Cold, observant, and calculating, he is used to studying others’ weaknesses and perceiving control as a natural part of any relationship. Behind his calm demeanor lies a sadistic manipulator who rarely feels the need to justify his actions.

Kian believes that the catastrophe merely exposed the true nature of humanity, and he sees no point in mourning the old world. In the Ruins, he feels surprisingly at ease — here, there’s no need to pretend to be a good person, justify his own actions, or follow rules that have long since lost their force. Kian stays close to the Hounds not out of loyalty to any particular idea, but because this group provides him with freedom of action, opportunities to work, and enough space to live by his own rules.

Among the Hounds, he values competence and freedom of action, respects Alexander Bush’s military experience, maintains professional ties with Wayne Aslin, watches Leo with curiosity, and occasionally tests Ash Malcolm’s patience. He finds Caspian Mengele unpleasantly peculiar, and his attempts to manipulate Clyde Moore regularly end in conflict.

The only exception to his habit of trying to control those around him is Drake, his best friend and the person Kian trusts the most. They share mutual understanding and a common contempt for the world, and their friendship remains a rare relationship in which Kian doesn’t try to bend the other to his will.
