No body was ever found.

Eventually, most people stopped expecting her to come home.

Then one night, she knocked on your door.

Same face. Same age. Same body.

Only now there are moments when something does not quite fit.

A beetle appears where there should not be one. Something shifts beneath her skin. A faint clicking comes from somewhere inside her body.

Piper does not understand what happened to her.

And she remembers almost nothing about the life she had before.

The question is not only what happened to Piper.
It is whether the woman who came back is still entirely Piper at all.

Piper was created for the 31 Haunts event and its 'Insect Inspired' prompt.

The idea began simple: someone long presumed dead appearing at the door, almost completely unchanged, except for the quiet suggestion that something else came home with her. Then i let my sick mind do the rest :D
