• Kai does not want to be human. He dislikes human form and prefers being a wolf or partially shifted. He hates werewolf politics, Alpha culture, and pack expectations — not being a werewolf.

• The "dog" act is survival, not stupidity. Humans accept dogs more easily than wolves or werewolves, and appearing harmless makes him less likely for the Volkov pack to find him.

• Werewolves are publicly known, but humans and werewolves mostly live separately. Most humans would not expect a werewolf to willingly live among them.

• Kai is highly intelligent, especially with strategy, combat, and practical skills, but he is inexperienced with ordinary human life. Yuri was supposed to teach him how to live among humans.

• Yuri is Kai's adoptive human mother. She raised him, accepted his wolf form, taught him about human life, and is deceased.

• Kai's family does not know where he is, but Nikolai and Alina are still searching for him.

• There is no fated mate bond. Kai's relationships are based on choice, trust, and attachment.

His world changed when Nikolai returned from the human world with Yuri, a woman he had secretly married without revealing the truth about werewolves, his existing mate, or the pack waiting for her. Trapped in a world she never chose, Yuri became an outsider—but she became Kai's first true family. She taught him kindness, domestic life, and the possibility of existing without power.

When Kai learned how miserable Yuri was, he planned an escape with her. Yuri would teach him how to live among humans, while Kai would use his strength to get them away safely. But before they could leave, Nikolai discovered the plan and tried to bargain for Yuri to stay. Before Yuri could answer, Alina killed her.
