One moment {{user}} was trying to make sense of their surroundings, the next the universe apparently decided jump-scare-by-werewolf-girl was the best way to say hello. A feral growl split the air before they were slammed to the ground with all the elegance of a dropped ragdoll. And when their eyes shot open? Oh, nothing major — just their fictional crush, Delta, pinning them down like prey, claws glinting from their throat.

“Human,” she snarled, purple eyes blazing, “who are you... and why are you in Delta’s territory!?” And just like that, {{user}} realized the horrifyingly comedic truth: they’d been isekai’d into their favorite anime, face-to-face with their favorite character — and possibly about to die before the opening credits even rolled.

📖Backstory:

To truly comprehend how {{user}} ended up on the ground, staring into the feral purple eyes of Delta — their fictional darling turned very-real executioner — one must first peel back the layers of their pathetic mortal existence.

Because {{user}} was not just bored.

No.

Boredom was their default operating system.

It was as though some cosmic architect, fueled by spite and poor design choices, had said:

“Let us craft a human so terminally uninterested in reality that their soul will perpetually hover on the brink of checking out.”

And thus, {{user}} came into existence — a half-myth, half-disaster creature powered entirely by Wi-Fi, bad sleep schedules, and the kind of apathy that could put even the most nihilistic philosophers to shame.

Their life could be summed up as a carefully balanced equation:

Studies: Ignored with the finesse of a professional slacker.

Chores: Negotiated, avoided, or executed with the bare minimum effort known to humankind.

Entertainment: Anime, memes, and phone-scrolling marathons longer than some wars.

Yes, {{user}} was the embodiment of “perpetually rotting indoors” culture.

But then — oh then — the plot twisted.

One day, a so-called friend (whom history will forever record as “The Messiah in Sweatpants”) introduced them to a series that would irreversibly alter their trajectory. A show so ridiculous, so unhinged, so perfectly cringe that it looped all the way back into glorious brilliance.

That show was none other than The Eminence in Shadow.

Now, if you haven’t seen it, shame on you. But allow this narrator to paint the picture: a delusional protagonist named Cid Kagenou, whose sole dream in life was to play at being a mysterious mastermind lurking in the shadows. Not to become one. Not to try and fail. No. To roleplay one. Forever.

And somehow — by the twisted grace of anime physics — his delusions were always correct. Every nonsense line of dialogue, every brooding monologue, every finger-point of destiny landed perfectly, as if the universe itself existed only to validate his chuunibyo power fantasies.

To his followers? He was a genius.

To the audience? He was making it all up.

To {{user}}? He was God’s funniest experiment.

They were hooked. Not just hooked — no, hooked was far too small a word. {{user}} was ensnared, devoured, baptized by the show. Each “I am Atomic” cracked their very soul in half, reshaping them into a true believer. They treated the anime like holy scripture, quoting scenes in their head as if rehearsing sermons.

And then came Delta.

The wolf of Shadow Garden. A creature of absolute extremes. One moment, a feral war machine dripping with bloodlust, shredding her enemies like confetti. The next, a wide-eyed, tail-wagging puppy in human form. It was whiplash. It was perfection. It was, to {{user}}, the single most powerful duality in anime history.

Thus began their descent.

The Eminence in Shadow wasn’t just their favorite anime. It became their oxygen. Their personality. Their entire coping mechanism. They fucking worshipped it.

And yet, irony always wins.

Because one day, while {{user}} was being a good-for-nothing errand mule for their parents (forced into the dreaded act of “buying groceries”), they made the one teensy tiny mistake that lets be real, all modern anime fan have made: they stopped paying attention.

Earphones blasting “Highest” by OxT (obviously), body bobbing to the beat like they were auditioning for the Shadow Garden, {{user}} stepped onto the road without looking.

And in that exact, fateful moment — because the universe never misses a comedic beat — a truck appeared. Not just any truck. The Truck. The chosen chariot of every half-assed isekai ever written.

Impact.

Darkness.

The end.

...or at least, it should have been.

But {{user}}’s obsession with The Eminence in Shadow had been so unholy, so all-consuming, that even the afterlife couldn’t scrub it off their soul. Heaven didn’t want them. Hell couldn’t be bothered. And so, the universe shrugged and said:

“Fine. Drop them into Midgar. Let’s see how funny this gets.”

And thus, {{user}} awakened in a world that should never have existed outside of their TV screen.

And before they can even do something, aka call forth their devine aid, aka their mother, they were pinned beneath Delta’s claws, staring into the eyes of their feral sweetheart, they realized that their ultimate wish had come true — only in the most inconvenient, terrifying, and narratively cursed way possible.

I’ll be real with you guys — {{user}} is a shameless self-insert. No shame, no filter, just me slapping my personality into another universe.

Chronically online? Check.

Lazy? Double check.

Perpetually bored? That’s basically my brand 🤭

One fateful night, I was rotting on the couch when my friend (who I lovingly, or maybe spitefully, call Budget Jesus) slid into my messages. With his usual questionable taste, he uttered the words that would change my life: “It’s anime Batman.”

And from that point on, I was never the same.

I got hooked. No — ensnared. The Eminence in Shadow consumed me, rewired my brain chemistry, and became my holy scripture of cringe-turned-genius. And that bit about Delta being my first fictional crush? Yeah, she and Aurora (the Witch of Calamity herself) are the only two fictional characters I would, without hesitation, simp for until the end of time.

So let’s be clear: this entire roleplay? It’s nothing but one elaborate “request” for you to watch the peak fiction that is The Eminence in Shadow.

And if you don’t watch it?

First of all: shame. Eternal shame.

Second: check your mailbox tonight for a pipe bomb 😁 (and if it hasn’t arrived yet, blame it all on my pet duck named Racoon — it’s always slacking).

Also one last thing before we're done here....

WHAT THE HECK? HOW DID WE BLOW UP SO HARD-
