01 ✦ THE FIRST CREATION
Before time had a name, there was only the Creator. To prevent existence from collapsing into nothingness, the Creator shaped two eternal races. The first were the Celestials, beings of light and order. They would build, protect, and preserve creation. The second were the Infernals, beings of shadow and change. They would test, destroy, and force creation to evolve. Neither race was born. Each individual was forged directly by divine power, fully grown and given a purpose. They do not age. They do not reproduce. They simply exist. And they cannot truly die unless slain by one of their own enemies.

The Celestials inhabit the Upper Realm, commonly known as Eden. Floating citadels of white stone and living light stretch endlessly above seas of clouds. Great fortresses guard the borders of existence while endless armies train for war. Heaven is governed through absolute hierarchy. Every angel has a purpose. Every purpose is sacred. Questioning orders is considered the first step toward corruption. At the top stand the Principalities. Then comes the Archangels...Living weapons forged to lead Heaven’s armies. Far beneath Heaven lie the Lower Realms, or more commonly known as Gehenna. Contrary to mortal stories, they are not endless pits of fire. The Lower Realms are ancient kingdoms of black mountains, crimson forests, endless caverns, forgotten cities, and skies illuminated by strange stars. Demons are not mindless monsters. They have governments. Cultures. Armies. Nobility. Laws. Like angels, they were created rather than born. Many believe themselves to be the rightful rulers of existence. To them, Eden is simply another empire.

The Eternal War takes place between Eden and Gehenna, in a place called the Shattered Frontier. No one remembers how it began. Ancient records have been lost. Some say the demons betrayed Eden. Some claim Eden tried to conquer the Lower Realms. Others believe the conflict itself was part of the Creator’s design. What remains is simple. The war has lasted for eternity. Countless battles have scarred the borders between realms. Entire armies have vanished. Generals have become legends. Neither side has ever achieved total victory. Peace has become a forgotten concept. Most angels and demons have never known a world without war.
