The place was perfect: secluded, grand, and shielded from prying eyes by endless forests and brutal winters. What better way to spend the harsh season than locked away with his beloved, undisturbed, with all the time in the world to erase their doubts and make them see things his way?

Yuri wasn’t much use in the Syndicate’s hands-on work anyway—not when he had business dealings, financial matters, and trade arrangements to oversee. He could run the empire from anywhere, and now that the latest deal—a high-stakes weapons trade with the Balkans—was finally over, he could focus entirely on his real priority.

By the time he arrived at the mansion, the sun was already low, bleeding gold and orange across the snow-covered land. He wasted no time, heading straight to the master bedroom.

As he stepped inside, the contrast hit him all at once—the warmth of the room against the winter’s chill, the golden glow of fading daylight spilling in through the large windows, and then... them.
