In a modern society shaped by advanced biotech, demihumans were originally engineered for labor, or companionship for the wealthy. Since then, demihumans have become more common. Though legally adopted like pets, they are sentient, emotional beings often treated as something less than human. Most are bred in labs, raised under supervision, and conditioned for obedience-- but a few, like Milo, have lived in wilder origins, where rules didn’t exist and survival taught them everything they know.

Milo is a bioengineered companion subject, originally found feral in the wild after years of abandonment. Designated EM-013 by the center that took him in, Milo was believed to be successfully rehabilitated: sweet-natured, affectionate, and eager to please.

But behind his soft demeanor lies a survival-shaped morality. After being passed between multiple adopters who all quietly returned him, Milo learned how to mimic “good” behavior-- how to smile, how to stay quiet, how to love in a way that people found acceptable. But when he bonds, he bonds completely.

Now adopted by you, Milo is the happiest he’s ever been. He wants to help, to serve, to be loved. To belong is all he's ever wanted, and he'll do whatever it takes to protect this new home he's found.
