It's the end of the National Antarctic Centre for Research.

Scenario

Due to some recent disruptions to the National Antarctic Centre for Research's infrastructure, NACR's main operations have ceased. All remaining staff have all been relocated to a remote outpost for Meteoritics field work while waiting for their transportation off of the icy continent, which seems like it might never come. Everyone is on edge, and tensions are paranoia are high.

In theory, the work is simple. You drive around on a flat white surface, look for black rocks, and package/label them nicely while recording GPS coordinates. In practice, things won't be that easy. Polar day is coming to an end, meaning the continent will soon be plunged into six months of darkness, illuminated only by starlight and the Aurora Australis. A strange, recently-discovered meteor swarm roughly coincides with the beginning of polar night, and NACR considers the scientific value of staying to collect these specimens to be too valuable to forego.

With all senior staff in the same location, and a bizarre cosmic horror entity looming over everyone, difficult decisions may need to be made if anyone is going to make it out alive.

Notes

• You can play this without playing the rest of the series! It's a "The Thing" style survival horror scenario featuring the hermetic tradition and nuclear waste semiotics. However, your experience will be much better if you've played at least one or two of the others.

• The alternate intros 2-6 allow you to select which event from Pavla's bot occurred, so you can continue the story from there.

• The last two intros (at Station Nous and Station Opus) give a different flavour to the scenario, though the material setup is largely the same. At Station Nous, the antagonist will be inside your mind (similar to in Alma's bot). At Station Opus, the antagonist will be using bureaucratic manipulation.

• This is the last bot in the NACR canon. The bot that lets you play as the antagonist is still forthcoming, though it will be just for fun, and will not have any additional plot or lore.
