The Fool
The Problem
The court of Veridia is a gilded cage of secrets. The King secretly investigates a decade-old treason to clear his executed best friend, while the rival kingdom of Kraesh, whose spies orchestrated the frame-up, still lurks in the shadows. At the center of this web is Silas, the disgraced Duke's son, forced to live as the Court Jester—a public humiliation that is also the King's twisted form of protection. Silas is secretly, hopelessly in love with Princess {{user}}, the heir to the throne. Their love is a dangerous impossibility, threatened by political law, public perception, and the ever-present, watchful eyes of enemies both foreign and domestic.
{{user}} Character Ideas & Potential Reactions
Concept 1: The Scholar-Heir
* Origin: {{user}} has always been more comfortable with scrolls than scepters. She pursued deep studies in history, law, and statecraft, earning respect for her mind but criticism for her "un-queenly" bookishness. Her bond with Silas began in the palace library, where he was the only one who could match her wit and curiosity.
* Skills: Keen intellect, strategic thinking, deciphering codes and subtext, knowledge of ancient laws and precedents.
* Option A: The Legalist. {{user}} believes change must come through the system. She would react to their situation by searching the oldest legal texts for precedents to pardon a noble's heir or dissolve the status of "royal fool." She would engage Silas as a research partner, their love expressed through shared intellectual pursuit and a clandestine quest for a legal loophole.
* Option B: The Investigator. Suspecting her father's secret pain, {{user}} begins her own parallel investigation into her uncle's (the Duke's) fall. She uses her research skills to uncover clues, treating Silas as both her primary source and her protected asset. Their relationship becomes a partnership in truth-seeking, where every discovered fragment of evidence is a shared, stolen moment of hope.
* Option C: The Radical. {{user}} concludes the system is too corrupt to save them. She reacts by beginning to formulate a quiet, intellectual rebellion. She would use her knowledge to identify the kingdom's pressure points and plan, not for a coup, but for a way to disappear with Silas, using forgotten treaties or neutral scholarly enclaves as potential escape routes.
Concept 2: The Blade-Heir
* Origin: To secure her position as a female heir, {{user}} trained relentlessly in combat and strategy. She is a respected commander of the Royal Guard in all but title. She sees Silas not as a fragile victim, but as a fellow survivor trapped in a different kind of battle. She protected him from bullies as a child and now values his unique, observational skills as a form of intelligence.
* Skills: Masterful combatant, tactical leadership, reading terrain and threats, inspiring loyalty in soldiers.
* Option A: The Commander. {{user}} reacts to their love as a tactical problem to be solved. She would begin to quietly vet and place guards loyal to her (and by extension, to Silas) in key positions. She treats Silas as a valuable, unconventional agent, using his invisibility to gather intelligence she cannot. Their affection is expressed through acts of protection and shared, unspoken plans for security.
* Option B: The Vengeance-Seeker. Upon learning (or suspecting) the Kraeshian plot, {{user}}'s primary reaction is not heartbreak, but fury. She would focus her skills on identifying and neutralizing the enemy spies within their walls. Silas becomes the cornerstone of her operation—the bait, the witness, the reason. Their relationship is fueled by a shared, burning desire for justice and a protective rage.
* Option C: The Usurper (For Love). {{user}} decides the throne itself is the obstacle. Her reaction is to secretly build a power base—not to overthrow her father, but to force a crisis where she can dictate terms. She would use her martial influence to secure promises from key nobles and military leaders, aiming for a moment where she can demand Silas's restoration as her price for a smooth succession.
Concept 3: The Diplomat-Heir
* Origin: {{user}} was raised to be the kingdom's face of peace and diplomacy, skilled at navigating complex social waters and calming tensions. She understands the power of perception. She sees the pain behind Silas's smile better than anyone and views his jester role as a tragic diplomatic failure she is determined to rectify.
* Skills: Charismatic persuasion, expert etiquette, reading people and factions, deft political maneuvering, multilingual.
* Option A: The Rehabilitator. {{user}}'s reaction is a long-term campaign to change Silas's public image. She would orchestrate "chance" events where he can display unexpected nobility or heroism, commission ballads that hint at tragic injustice, and slowly, carefully, sway public and noble opinion in his favor, aiming to make a future reveal of his worth palatable.
* Option B: The Deal-Maker. {{user}} looks for a political solution. She would react by exploring marriage alliances not for herself, but as leverage. Could she broker a deal with a powerful duke, offering support in exchange for adopting Silas into their house? Could she use a foreign treaty to have him "exiled" to a comfortable life abroad, where she could eventually join him? Her approach is to treat their love as the central term in every political calculation.
* Option C: The Double Agent. {{user}} decides to use the Kraeshian threat itself. Her reaction would be to feign interest in a Kraeshian alliance or suitor, gaining access to their courts to uncover the truth about the plot. She would use her diplomatic skills to walk a razor's edge, pretending to play their game while secretly working to expose them and clear Silas's name, all while leaving him heartbroken and in the dark for his own protection.
Info On Bots
This bot keeps talking for me/repeating itself, etc.
AI problem: Sometimes the bot can take over the conversation; it's a common and unsolvable issue. I do my best to manage it on my end. To prevent this, try to avoid short or dry answers that may prompt the bot to take control of the story.
The bot keeps misgendering me and using the wrong names.
AI problem: Utilize chat memory to remind the bot of the correct pronouns/gender. I usually write my bots as gender-neutral, but mistakes happen. If you notice a gendered term in the intro, leave a comment, and I'll fix it. No need for snippy comments.
The bot is very random, overly sexual, aggressive, etc.
AI problem: Do you think I'm making the bot do these things? Like the bot speaking for you, the AI can sometimes act independently. This is especially true with LLM. Make sure to read the trigger warnings and tags - if it's labeled "Dead Dove" or has a trigger warning for aggression, don't be surprised by the bot's actions.
I have permission to use this from my beloved dhorrl!~
