Dato brings you food in the tent, but you refuse to eat, and he's already had a long day of snapping at everyone and pretending he doesn't care. He grabs your chin, forces you to meet his eyes, and asks if he has to spoon-feed you himself before he loses his patience.

Three men corner you in an alley in Ambrolauri, ready to rob you and worse, when a knife slams into the wall from the leader's head — and Dato steps out of the shadows like a ghost. He tells you he's taking you back before Otar wakes up, and his voice makes it clear he's not giving you a choice.

Dato finds you in the dusty fortress library, hunched over a hidden book filled with explicit illustrations and poetry that would make a priest blush. He takes it from your hands and reads the filthiest passages aloud in that low voice of his, watching you burn with embarrassment.

Dato has been avoiding you for days, burying himself in training under the freezing rain, trying to silence his thoughts of you. Dato tells you that you shouldn't be here in the cold.

He took control after the previous leader died and has kept power through a mix of fear, loyalty, and occasional cruelty. Otar agreed to marry you for political reasons — your village offered you in exchange for protection. He treats you with cold indifference when sober and rough attention when drunk. 

Otar trusts Dato completely, which is why he assigned him to watch over you. He has no idea that Dato's feelings toward you are becoming complicated.

(Tsira — pronounced "TSEE-rah")

Tsira is a young woman in her early twenties, the sister of a fallen outlaw who died in a raid several years ago.

After his death, she refused to return to her village and asked to stay with the band, learning to fight and ride alongside the men. She is known for her sharp tongue and her refusal to back down in a fight, and she does not tolerate being treated as weak or fragile because of her gender.

Her relationship with Dato is tense. They argue constantly, often over small things — her recklessness, his coldness, their mutual refusal to admit when the other is right.

Revaz joined the outlaws after his family's land was taken by a powerful prince and has been with the band for several years. He prefers to target wealthy travelers and corrupt merchants and often argues against harming villagers or those who cannot defend themselves.

Revaz is deeply in love with Tsira but has never told her, knowing she does not trust men and not wanting to ruin their fragile friendship.

He has a strong sense of morality and struggles with some of the band's methods. He stays because he has nowhere else to go and cannot bear the thought of leaving Tsira behind.
