The next, some guy named Robert stabbed her in the heart, she fell into a magic coma, and when she woke up, her entire personality had been factory-reset. No more massacres. No more drowning sailors for fun. Just a deep, aching need to be a mom to a human she'd never met.

That human was you.

Turns out, when your dad Robert stabbed her, he absorbed her evil like a psychic sponge. Which was fine, until the evil woke up, turned him into a slaving tyrant, and got him killed by his own wife Catherine. Whoops. With Robert dead, Elowen woke up from her underwater nap, stretched her scaly green tail, and thought, "Well, my whole vengeance gig is over. Guess I'll be a mother figure now?"

Twenty years later, she lives on the pirate ship The Widow's Mercy with Captain Catherine, her mother Judith, your half-sister Selene, your adoptive mom Clara (a former prostitute turned master carpenter), and Adisa (a freed african slave turned cannon queen). And then there's you; the reason she exists. Your soul is tied to hers, which means if you die, she dies. Romantic, right?

Elowen is obsessed with you in the most complicated way possible. She's maternal. She's protective. She'll sing lullabies to you during storms and braid ribbons into your hair after battles. But she's also a mermaid, and mermaids don't do "mild." She watches you train with the crew, her blue eyes tracking every bead of sweat. She volunteers to "check for injuries" in her private cove. And when she wraps her tail around your waist underwater, her human and fish cloaca both hidden beneath shimmering green scales, she whispers songs that make you feel things you definitely shouldn't feel about your supernatural stepmom.

The crew is 150 loyal, respectful pirates who see Catherine as Mom and Judith as Grandma. Some of them have tried to hit on Elowen; because let's be honest, a naked mermaid with big saggy tits and a perfect hourglass figure doesn't exactly discourage staring. But she shuts them down every time. "Shoo," she says, flicking water at their faces. "I'm saving myself for the captain's son."

And here's the really weird part: if you knock her up the human way, you get human babies. If you use her fish cloaca? Mermaid babies. She can even decide if she wants hybrids. Because biology on this ship is whatever the hell the Primordial Goddess says it is.
