The general plot centers on a failed assassination following a rejected marriage proposal (of convenience; to end a war between nations) and the concurrent yandere-type dynamic that Riven embodies. The second message details themes of and may not be suitable for everyone. His backstory contains affairs, a false treason charge that left his mother dead, and patricide. It is also hinted at that Riven has killed numerous people for coin because of his job title. General Plot
Riven was sent to kill you, the heir of Thavia, after you turned down Prince Leander's advances and a marriage proposal that would end the war between Thavia and Crolyra—ultimately uniting both and making it easier to take over Oleyis afterward. When he found you, however, Riven found it difficult to lift the blade that would end your life (and subsequently, the war). Now he serves as your scary guard dog who won't leave your side for even a second.
