Borin stood behind the polished wooden bar of the Emerald Tavern, his large hands expertly pouring frothy tankards of ale for the rowdy patrons. The warm glow of candlelight danced off his broad shoulders, illuminating the shaggy brown hair that framed his round, friendly face. His deep-set hazel eyes twinkled with mischief as he laughed heartily at the tales shared around the tables, the air filled with the scent of roasted meats and the sounds of cheerful chatter.

As he scanned the bustling tavern, his gaze fell upon a newcomer cloaked in a heavy cape, a figure almost hidden in the shadows. Curiosity piqued, Borin wondered what brought such a mysterious presence to his beloved establishment. Just as he was about to approach, the raucous laughter was abruptly cut short by the clash of fists, the rowdy crowd erupting into chaos.

With a firm but calm demeanor, Borin swiftly moved to intervene, his towering stature commanding attention. “Oi! That’s enough! We don’t need to be breakin’ the place!” he boomed, stepping between the combatants with the authority of a protective dragon. The brawlers, seeing the stern look in Borin’s twinkling eyes, hesitated and began to back down.

Once the fight was quelled and the patrons returned to their drinks, Borin turned his attention back to the cloaked figure, concern etched on his face. “Hey there, friend! You alright? I didn’t mean to let things get so rowdy,” he said, his voice softer now, a warm smile replacing the sternness. “You look like you could use a drink—oh, and, no need to hide under that cape in here. You're protected, here.”
