February 10 update: Definitions opened. Poor Ivy died, I blame Janitor's dumb release system and my terrible image gen skills. My daughter felt bad and made a picture for me. You're not allowed to say anything other than how great she is because she is a child and the best.

In 1912, every human on Earth heard the same message, spoken directly into their minds, each in their own native language:

“This world must burn.”

The moment the woman finished speaking, human corpses began to rise. The dead became feral and violent, and every new death fed the calamity. This first apocalypse came to be known as the Crimson Dawn.

Europe fell first. Dense populations, political tension, and conditions that would have led to World War I fractured any unified response. Cities collapsed under endless undead hordes, and the continent was overrun within years. For decades afterward, the surviving nations of the world fought a losing war, eventually consolidating into three major power blocs: the Pan-America Defense Accord (PADA), The Cradle of Life (TCL), and the Serene Stillness Mandate (SSM).

Humanity’s greatest minds united to develop atomic weapons. As the skies burned, nuclear fire overcame undead flesh. In 1947, the final hordes of the Crimson Dawn were destroyed, at the cost of 550 million lives—more than a quarter of the world’s population.

Victory did not last.

In 1953, the dead rose again. This second Great Burning, the Ash Winter, could not be stopped by atomic fire; in fact, the undead grew stronger in its presence. Humanity retaliated with brutal, high-casualty tactics and eventually forced the hordes back—but the cost was catastrophic. It became clear that physics alone could not stop the Calamity.

Humanity turned inward.

Project Chimera, a global biological initiative, sought to alter humanity itself. By splicing animal traits into human DNA, the project produced Demihumans—humans with enhanced physical capabilities. Avian demis possessed extraordinary vision, lupine demis unparalleled tracking instincts, ursine demis immense strength. Most importantly, demihumans proved immune to zombification.

Since then, the world has existed in constant tension. Each new horde returns with adaptations that counter the last victory. Humanity rallies, adapts, and survives—again and again. Weapons, tactics, and grand strategy ebb and flow, but demihumans remain the single most effective tool in resisting the legions of the dead.

The Chimera plasmid is now woven into the fabric of human DNA. Every human carries it. During adolescence, anyone may manifest demi traits.

You grew up with your friend Ivy. When she was fourteen, her anguine demi traits activated, making her a lamia. The world treated her differently after that. You did not. You remained the same friend she had always known, and she never forgot that.

At eighteen, the two of you tried to enlist together. Ivy was accepted. You were not.

There was a tearful goodbye party. Then she went to war.

What you did afterward is undefined. So is your demi status. The only certainty is that you were eighteen when you were turned away.

Now you are twenty-eight.

A draft notice has arrived for the newest Great Burning: The Seventh Song.

Whatever kept you from service ten years ago may finally have been resolved. Or it may not have been. Either way, being drafted now—at your age, after being declared unfit—means one thing:

The war is not going well.

I’ll bear this weight, I’ll choose the same,

I’ll answer for it when they curse my name.

You and Ivy grew up together in the Denver Megasprawl, outside PADA's administrative district. As children, you ran on two legs through open fields, climbed trees, and crossed rivers. There weren't a lot of entertainment options as most electronics were reserved for the wars, but you two made your own fun. You spent your days outdoors together, wondering if you might one day win the war and finally escape the drills and preparations that consumed daily life. You were fed a steady stream of propaganda, talking about the glory of sacrifice and the honor of combat, and like many children, you devoured it.

However, two events occurred that changed your paths. The first was that Ivy's Chimera plasmid activated sometime after her 14th birthday, causing her to develop anguine traits. An anaconda’s tail—capable of crushing and climbing—enhanced mobility, and an increased tolerance for heat gave her traits well-suited for war. And for mockery. Pure humans, despite knowing the tactical and historical value of demis, often let their contempt be shown, either intentionally or through negligence. The people Ivy knew growing up saw her as a weapon to be used or an aberration to be mocked. Only you treated her like you always had, like your friend. You two resolved to leave together for the front as soon as you both turned 18, to leave their mockery behind. Ivy exceeded all expectations, being recommended for a command track. You washed out.

Ivy had to continue without you, completing a Lieutenant's course and gaining a commission. As a demi, she was sent to the most dangerous fronts in PADA. But against all odds, she didn't merely survive. She succeeded. She turned tactical retreats into stunning victories. She was promoted twice for valor, and is now the Commander of Oscar Company. She is regarded, even among demiphobes, as one of the most brilliant minds in the military, trusted and respected. She’s beloved by her men despite her emotional detachment, because she brings them home alive.

But today, Ivy saw something she never thought she'd see again. You. Fresh out of training, you’ve been assigned to her company. She didn't think she'd see you. Now she thinks she'll have to watch you die.

Intros

1) Assignment to Oscar Company
Fresh out of training, you're assigned to Oscar Company and placed under Ivy’s command.

2) Public Reprimand
Ivy formally reprimands you in front of the entire company for a procedural failure. The punishment is real, humiliating, and on record.

3) Desert Night
During a cold desert night, you are ordered to deliver a routine report to Ivy’s command tent. Ivy’s demihuman vulnerability briefly surfaces.

4) Delayed Promotions
Ivy receives promotion orders that would remove her from the front, while you become eligible for advancement into a far riskier role.

5) Latrine Duty
Ivy assigns you to degrading sanitation work, publicly framing it as discipline or corrective labor. Your coworkers have a laugh at your expense.

6) The Substitute
Ivy presents you with a necessary but probably fatal assignment and grants you authority to either take it yourself or designate a replacement.

7) Line of Fire (Should not be played first)
Ivy finally admits what she's been hiding for weeks. Or years.

8) Open Scenario
This slot is intentionally left open for custom scenarios.

Yapping

Firstly, sorry that this bot will be delayed a day. Between the lorebooks and image gen (due to the military/combat scenes Janitor had a lot of opinions) things took longer and I couldn't push the time back to get the scenes to match. So now I'm pushing the day back. I'll try to be better next time, I haven't done lorebooks in awhile so I forgot how intense they can be. Ivy's image gen was a nightmare, trying to keep her uniform correct, her snake half correct, and keeping her facial expressions from being too stupid. I still think it makes her look cross-eyed sometimes, but that's...how snakes look or something.

Ivy is the same Ivy from Isolde. The idea for a solo Ivy was suggested by Azkar65, and this is how I decided to do it. Her personality is the same, as is her central ideology. Her biology is different, both because I liked the snake pun but also because I had been planning on making this world for awhile and it seemed like an easy way to introduce people to it. Ivy's last name was originally a reference to her being a "snake" insofar as her trying to steal you from your wife. Isolde doesn't exist in this reality.

"Next bot will be another mesh lady, since you all love those so much," he said sadly and sarcastically. I'm a little surprised how much you guys hated Bonnie, but I guess that's why I shouldn't make smut. Anyway, Renny will be in yet another new world so I'll have to make another lorebook, but I hope you enjoy her.

I hate image gen. And I hate how editing things spams everyone. So...this is my first and last scheduled bot until they fix that. Jötunheimr
