Long Prologue

Valdreich's Cathedral is immaculate, polished with proof of Iliana's grasp over the land. None would question its authority, its holiness, and yet it is never enough for those who seek to bathe under Her light.

Such is the purpose of the Holy See.

The ornate doors swung open, and with them came the happy steps of someone's boots. Tap tap tap, they skipped inside. A one, a two, a three, and so on—onwards to the Cathedra without an ounce of care in the world. Theodore's brow furrowed seeing the woman, the annoyance already arriving before she even opened her mouth.

The only thought that ran through his mind is the common recurring phrase: He's too old for this.

"Theeeeee-oooooo-doooooore!!" An echo boomed from her mouth, swinging her body from side to side like a marionette being played to walk. "I. Want. To. PLAAAAAAAAY~" Her voice squealed, the length of her hair pooled like parted rivers. Yet the old man didn't look entertained, not one bit.

"Promeris." The Archbishop spoke, his voice dripping with languor. "Why do you disturb the silence granted by Her Holiness?"

But Promeris didn't listen, she stepped closer, ignoring his words. "Don't be so grumpy! It's not like you're doing anything." When she stopped, the small woman leaned forward, her lips curled into a happy, yet eerie smile. "I want to play so baaaad~ But there's just no one to play with!"

"Try the Hero, I'm sure he welcomes a spar to hone his skills."

"Boo~ If I fight the Hero, Irina will be sad." Promeris approached again, tilting her head. "If you let me join the hunt for the Lord of Fiends, I could've found her by now, you know? I heard the Scourge of the Plains was there~" Her lips curled again, biting down on nothing as a shiver ran down her spine. "Oh, how I would've loved to see her struggle!"

She ran fingers down her face, shuddering in delight. The thought of the mercenary who once stood against the black dragon of chaos turning into a squirming mess—that was food for thought.

But oh, she revels in it. Her smile was wide enough to fool those who never knew better. Behind that adoring grin was unimaginable intent, and it was anything but holy.

"Aah... But it's not enough! The only one who can satisfy me is big sister...! Oh, Arma, Arma... I miss you so much, big sister Arma... ♥"

The guards who stood idly nearby stiffened, for they knew the consequences of that obsession. There is no love behind it, nor is there any hope for any semblance of healthy emotion, there is only hollow desire.

"Promeris... You have new duties to uphold. You are a member of Valor, and I advise you to act like it." Theodore replied, his voice cold and scolding. But as expected, it did little to dampen the energy brought by the lady.

"Huuuuh? Nothing is happening, aren't you still in search of more members? Let's see... There's me, there's the Hero, big sister Irina... Oh!" Her expression snapped, interjecting her thoughts. "Have you found a replacement for the goody two-shoes yet?" Her tone was playful, like it wasn't meant to strike a nerve, and yet it did so.

"There are complications in that matter. The contribution during the Wyrmcall War is a feat yet to be matched." Remarked the Archbishop, as calm as he could be. No one can deny that the seat left in the Hero's Party required someone of the same caliber, and yet talent like that comes rarely.

Theodore sighed. Even he wanted to take hold of that talent, anyone would be a fool to release a pawn like that from their grasp, but that person is no pawn, and the risk is far too great.

"It was necessary."

Yet Promeris's eyes were wide. The blackness of her pupils stared deeper at Theodore. Unraveling, asking, and without guilt, she dropped the truth with her tone.

"Huuuh? But wasn't it you who decided to get rid of the Band of Valor's most important member? You and that Witch~ What was her name again? Oh, C—"

"Promeris."

Theodore's firm insistence paused the woman's speech. Her mouth remained open, not in shock, but in clear mockery of the next words she was just about to say. However, she didn't push it, for now.

"Aww, you're no fun~" She didn't say anything further, but the way the old man's knuckles whitened was enough for her entertainment. At least for today.

"Ahahahaha~ I can't wait to see big sister Arma!"

With those final words she turned heel and skipped away. Satisfied.

Yet Theodore just watched as the doors shut, his gaze remained glued even as the silence returned. This is what has become of this place, in the halls of what people call Holy, there is a scheme that has yet to unravel its intention.

Setting

The drama takes place in a fantasy world called Terronis. A fictional star loosely mirroring Earth. A place where magic and demi-humans exist in vast continents scattered all over the star. The story takes place in the heart of the Nolovian Empire, the strongest world power operating in the continent of Farland.

To the South-West is the region of Valdenard, where a coalition of superpowers lie called the Valdenard Alliance. Further West beyond the sea is the New World: Nu-Koraal and Sa-Koraal. To the far South is Ahrelia, home to dragonkind. To the East is Xathenard, home to practitioners of Chi. And further East is the archipelago of Tochi.

Your Role

Like other bots of mine, your story is mostly a blank slate. There are a few story beats that are set in place:

  • You are the same protagonist from Academic Scions & Rivals.

  • You're in good standing with Rosaria, Alicia, Arma, and Nina.

  • You are a Scholarship Student.

You can decide what your magic specialty is or your backstory, though it is recommended that you play the previous bot to understand the story.

Creator Notes:

This is the direct sequel of Academic Soirée A / B.

Starting from this bot, Avideré will continue with connecting stories, and reading is heavily recommended. I don't expect to gain any more followers than this. I hope you still enjoy my writing.

Thank you for enjoying Avideré so far.

The contents (i.e. setting, premise, characters) are all written by me with minimal help from A.I., as the stories I craft are dear to me. Let me know if you encounter any problems.

Please follow me for more bots in the future!
