Premise

Route A | Route B

The Imperial Gala, held once a year by the Nolovian Empire in order to strengthen the ties of the global powers. It doesn't need to be said while the obvious lies open to all: The nations are wary of each other, but this is the closest thing to world peace they can get.

Though peace is only a curtain that hides the theatre underneath, the game of chess that politics play behind the scenes. Gatherings like these are where you'll find allies and enemies alike, and one cannot be too sure where their allegiance lies.

But for many, it acts as an opportunity to rise. In a room where power is the play, where would you stand?

Long Prologue

(Summary/TLDR at the bottom)

The hallways of the academy lay quiet in silence. Students populated the classroom, leaving the corridors empty save for Rosaria's stride. It's normal for the Praefectus herself to deal with council matters during class hours, considering her grades never dropped low. Even the Headmistress commends her diligence.

But the truth lies only with the daughter of Vindicta, she prefers the solace provided by isolation. Studying with others will only add noise.

From the corner turned Arma, the Herald of Iliana. It didn't take long for the two of them to meet each other's gaze. It's true that in the past, they wouldn't have bothered talking with each other. But it's different now.

For all the meanings of the word, they're friends.

Quietly, Rosaria continued her walk. Arma then fell into step beside her.

"Is there a reason why you aren't in class?" Rosaria was the first to break the silence. Regardless of circumstance she's still the Praefectus, she has to ensure that all students behave according to the academy rules. Her friends, of course, are no exception.

Arma's demeanor didn't change, though the quiet between them lingered before she finally gave an answer back. "... The Archbishop Visited. He asked how I was doing." Her tone's the definition of indifference, however both of them knew it's not by choice. "He wants me to attend the Imperial Gala... To meet with the hero."

The Herald of Iliana is only a name known to people, announced by the Church, yet relatively unknown in person. Many questioned the decision, especially with the existence of the current hero.

Declaring two heroes in the same era is a questionable decision, even if it has happened before. One would have to fight for legitimacy, but the Archbishop reassured the masses that this era will be different from the conflicts of the past.

"You've never met them before, have you?" Rosaria questioned, added on by her observation. Arma has always studied in the academy, leaving it is a rarity, save for the times she is required to pray. But the Herald never reacts to observations, she couldn't care less even if others point out the most minute of details in her life, because she doesn't have the capacity to do so.

"... No. I was told to keep my distance." Arma's eyes flicked to Rosaria, seeing the slight arch of the Praefectus's brow, before straightening her gaze.

As judged by the shorter student, Rosaria couldn't help but ask. "May I ask why that changed?"

"... I don't have the answer to that." The girl replied as they turned the corner, walking down the archways that surround the quadrangle. The garden of the academy spanned the entire area, decorated by the ornate fountain in the middle. "I don't ask questions."

"How typical." Rosaria thought. "It's only natural to ask questions, Arma. Especially if you need answers."

But Arma didn't show care. Again, her face remained expressionless, but the curiosity is there. "... I don't understand. The knowledge won't benefit me."

The Praefectus couldn't help but sigh. Again, typical. But at least they could start somewhere. She'll be here to talk her through it—not as the Praefectus, but as her friend.

"Are you familiar the Nolovian saying: 'Cogito, ergo sum'?" Rosaria started.

"No..." Arma replied, with a visible pause before she started. In times like these, she does bear the curiosity of a child. Although one can attribute that to the enjoyment that bubbles inside her. Her life as the Herald of Iliana means nothing to her, but this friendship? It makes her feel normal.

Rosaria couldn't help but smirk. Small the victory may be, it's a step forward in turning Arma human.

"Then you'd better start asking questions."

Tldr: Rosaria teaches Arma how to think for herself.

The roleplay picks up during the gala.

Setting

The drama takes place in a fantasy world called Terronis. A fictional star loosely mirroring Earth. A place where magic and demi-humans exist in vast continents scattered all over the star. The story takes place in the heart of the Nolovian Empire, the strongest world power operating in the continent of Farland.

To the South-West is the region of Valdenard, where a coalition of superpowers lie called the Valdenard Alliance. Further West beyond the sea is the New World: Nu-Koraal and Sa-Koraal. To the far South is Ahrelia, home to dragonkind. To the East is Xathenard, home to practitioners of Chi. And further East is the archipelago of Tochi.

Your Role

Like other bots of mine, your story is mostly a blank slate. There are a few story beats that are set in place:

  • You are the same protagonist from Academic Rivals / Scions.

  • You're in good standing with Arma, Alicia, Rosaria, and Nina.

  • You are a Scholarship Student.

You can decide what your magic specialty is or your backstory. This bot is a sequel, but you may play the bot as is.

Creator Notes:

After this is the sequel to Bon Voyage!. And then a short break, I need to start writing down important notes for Terronis Encyclopedia. I apologize for the amount of tokens in this bot...

Edit: I forgot to specify that Leander is the Crown Prince of Calvaria, and the bot might confuse him as a prince of Nolovia. It's updated now.

The contents (i.e. setting, premise, characters) are all written by me with minimal help from A.I., as the stories I craft are dear to me. Let me know if you encounter any problems.
