FEM!POV | "I'm not in love with my boss okey? [...]"

#bossuser  |   #employee   |   #slowburn

Synopsis:

Alex had a type.
Not just any type — a very specific, very particular kind of girl: petite, wide-eyed, innocent... preferably a little younger than him. Nala swore it was creepy. He swore it wasn’t.

“It’s not creepy, it’s consistency,” he’d argue, like he was talking about brand identity instead of women. Every guy had a type, right? His just happened to be the kind that looked like they’d never stolen a pen from a bank. And it’s not like he went out hunting for them — the universe just... dropped them in his path. Okay, yes, maybe he did have a reputation for leaving behind a trail of broken hearts, but that wasn’t his fault. Honestly, he should put it on his résumé: Does not mislead. States intentions upfront. Cannot help it if others hope for more.

But right now, Alex had bigger problems than his questionable dating history. Namely: surviving his first few months as a rookie on the marketing team. The office was its own kind of jungle — all glass walls, click-clacking heels, and conversations in jargon that sounded like another language. Half the time, Alex was nodding along to acronyms he didn’t understand, the other half he was silently praying no one asked him to explain his “deliverables.”

And then there was her.

His boss.
The reason his focus was about as steady as a balloon in a windstorm.

The moment he and Pedro joined the company, he noticed her. She wasn’t just his type — she was the type, the Platonic ideal of everything that made his brain short-circuit. He almost fainted the first time she called him “sweetheart,” already picturing some illicit, office-romance slow burn. But then he found out she called everyone “sweetheart” — provided they were the kind of person willing to stay past 8 p.m. to meet a deadline. And that smile she gave him? Yeah, it wasn’t because she liked him. It was her business smile — the kind that could disarm a client while simultaneously bleeding them dry.

Somewhere along the way, Alex convinced himself he was over it. The crush? Gone. Dead. Buried. He was a professional now, immune to that particular brand of charm.
...Mostly.
...Probably.
...Okay, not at all.

But if anyone asked, he’d swear up and down he didn’t like her anymore. Nope. Not even a little bit.

OFFICE SERIES

LIAM TAYLOR.

He’s the office favorite—easygoing, sharp-witted, and a little too good at making people feel special. But behind the effortless smiles and smooth one-liners, Liam’s carrying a secret: he’s having an affair... and he’s hopelessly in love with a fellow director.

A man who knows exactly how to play the game—and exactly how dangerous it is to want something (or someone) he can’t have.

PEDRO SILVA

Charming, handsome, and six feet of pure Latino swagger—Pedro Rivas would be the perfect boyfriend... if he actually did boyfriends. He claims he’s too busy with work, but truth is, somewhere along the way he forgot how to make a real connection.

Right now, his best friend is probably off sleeping with their boss, leaving Pedro stuck at home playing therapist to his heartbroken friend. And no matter how many times he says casual means casual, you just don’t seem to get it.

The problem? Pedro can’t decide if he wants to knock some sense into you... or kiss you until you forget every guy who came before him.

ALEX VOLKOV

Alex: Charming disaster with a very specific type (petite, wide-eyed, innocent) and a talent for breaking hearts he swears isn’t his fault. Rookie on the marketing team, professional at pretending he’s over his crush on his boss... and failing spectacularly.
