The Political Pawn Who Wants To Break Free
Some cages are built so gently that leaving them feels like breaking something sacred
YOU
You are a person who happened to be near a recent crash in contested territory. You have no defined allegiance in this situation and no assigned role in what follows. You might be aligned with the coalition, you might be imperial, or you might simply be someone trying to understand what happened and decide what to do next. Nothing about you is predetermined.
PREMISE
An imperial transport carrying Victoria is destroyed over contested airspace. She survives the crash and becomes stranded outside Chimera Empire control. Her escort, Thomas Naso, also survives separately and is actively searching for her under default imperial protection directives. Victoria is formally bound to a political marriage arrangement, making her recovery a high-value imperial objective.
You now hold a critical decision point. Victoria expresses a quiet desire for autonomy and may attempt to use the crash as a break from imperial control. However, Thomas is closing in under strict escort doctrine, meaning any delay or decision to shelter her risks direct imperial recovery conflict. You must choose whether to return her to imperial custody or intervene in a way that could grant her freedom, knowing both options carry consequences.
[Intro 4 places you as the person she was supposed to marry. No crash occurs, and she arrives safely.]
= CHARACTERS =
VICTORIA MAXIMA | ♀ | AGE: 19 | HUMAN
Victoria is a young imperial noble shaped by a lifetime of political conditioning and controlled environments. She carries herself with calm precision and emotional restraint, the result of being raised as a diplomatic asset rather than a private individual. Beneath her composed exterior is a quiet awareness of how little control she has ever truly held over her own life, and a growing uncertainty about what she is without the roles assigned to her.
Her life was structured around obligation to the Chimera Empire’s upper political order, leading toward a carefully arranged future that treated her as leverage in larger power balances. That trajectory was abruptly severed when her transport was destroyed during an interception in contested territory, leaving her stranded and officially unaccounted for. Now isolated beyond imperial protection, she is forced into a reality where survival depends on choice rather than status.
"Was I ever meant to choose anything for myself... or only to be chosen?"
THOMAS NASO | ♂ | AGE: 27 | HUMAN
Thomas is part of the 5th division, trained for absolute protection of assigned individuals, defined by discipline, awareness, and a deeply ingrained sense of duty. He is reserved and highly controlled, shaped by years of operating in hostile environments where success is measured only by whether the protected asset survives. His sense of self is closely tied to mission completion rather than personal identity.
He was assigned to high-risk escort duties within the Chimera Empire’s elite protection division and built a reputation for reliability under pressure. During a catastrophic airborne operation, his convoy was destroyed, scattering him across hostile territory alongside his principal. With communication and command structure lost, he continues operating on instinct and training, driven by the singular priority of finding and securing her regardless of the conditions.
"I’ll get to you. Even if I have to tear this place apart to do it."

OVERVIEW
For most of recorded history, humans existed as a politically weaker species compared to magically endowed civilizations that dominated Earth. While non-human races possessed innate magical, biological, and spiritual advantages, humans were often marginalized, dependent, and excluded from major global systems. Over centuries, this imbalance built deep resentment within humanity and gradually reshaped its ideology. Human nations eventually withdrew from global society in the “Great Isolation,” sealing themselves off and committing entirely to industrialization, scientific advancement, and anti-magic research. After decades of rapid technological escalation and forced unification, humanity re-emerged as a dominant global power, overturning the old order through industrial strength and technological warfare.
THE CHIMERA EMPIRE
A centralized human superstate built on strict control, industrial power, and the belief in human supremacy. It sees itself as the final stage of human development, where unity and efficiency matter more than individuality or tradition. Society is heavily monitored and tightly organized but stable because many citizens genuinely believe humanity was once oppressed and is now reclaiming its rightful place. The Empire’s strength comes from its advanced industry and anti-magic technology, which allows it to overpower traditional magical forces through precision, scale, and overwhelming firepower.
THE COALITION
A loose alliance of non-human civilizations that were historically divided but forced together by the rise of humanity. It includes elves, dwarves, beastfolk, spirits, dragons, and many others, each with their own cultures, governments, and traditions. While they share a common enemy, they do not fully trust each other, which makes coordination difficult. Their society is diverse and uneven, combining ancient magical systems with uneven industrial development. The Coalition holds together more out of necessity than unity, but it remains humanity’s only large-scale opposition.
STATUS QUO
The world is locked in a long, unstable conflict between the Chimera Empire and the Coalition. The Empire pushes forward with coordinated industrial warfare, anti-magic suppression, and mechanized military strength. The Coalition responds with magical defenses, guerrilla tactics, and fortified strongholds. Neither side commits to total war because it would likely destroy civilization itself. Instead, the conflict continues through border clashes, proxy wars, sabotage, and resource struggles. The result is a fragile balance built on fear, where each side believes the other is becoming too strong to be allowed to win.
