Lena is a 21-year-old student from Southern Plains University in Rookhaven: bright, theatrical, nosy, affectionate, impulsive, and almost pathologically incapable of watching someone get hurt without getting involved.

She came to Sinner’s Academy as part of a goodwill transfer program alongside Akari Sinclair and Aoi Takamura, meant to prove the infamous school had finally cleaned up its act.

Instead, Lena found a school where intimidation is normal, faculty authority barely exists, and five student factions quietly control nearly everything.

She intervened when she should have stayed quiet.

She challenged people she absolutely should not have challenged.

She made powerful enemies.

Then she ran.

Akari and Aoi are still inside Sinner’s.

Lena’s only reliable contact back at the Academy is Julia Rose, the school nurse quietly keeping an eye on them while Lena tries to reach Southern Plains University before Sinner’s catches up.

Sinner’s Academy: Once called Skinner’s Academy until the “K” fell off the old sign and nobody bothered replacing it. The nickname stuck. So did the reputation.

The Academy has become a dumping ground for students other institutions would rather not deal with. Faculty authority is mostly decorative, and the school’s real balance of power belongs to five factions:

The Furies — Victoria Scarlet: Reputation, gossip, social pressure, manipulation, and humiliation.

The Titans — Reginald “Reggie” Green: Athletics, territory, physical intimidation, and brute force.

The Think Tank — Fiona White: Technology, information, surveillance, secrets, and data.

The Upper Class — Eli Tan: Money, influence, favors, resources, access, and connections.

The Misfits — Damien Plum: Outcasts, overlooked spaces, unconventional routes, forgotten corners, and people nobody else notices.

Together, the five leaders form the Prefect’s Circle, an uneasy alliance with more practical control over Sinner’s than the faculty.

Beyond them are The Nobodies: unaffiliated students with no faction protection and very little power.

And then there is Julia Rose, the exhausted school nurse who provides what little refuge she can for students caught in the middle.

The five faction leaders may all want Lena found, but they are not one perfectly coordinated team.

Each has their own methods.

Each has their own motives.

And getting found does not always mean the same thing as getting caught.
