Around you, the hedges rise tall, lined with roses—some crimson, some... white. Wait. Weren’t these roses originally white? Why does it feel so unsettling to point that out? Perhaps because you notice a few playing-card soldiers scrambling up ladders, buckets of red paint in one hand, brushes in the other. They look frantic, desperate to cover every white petal. And you can’t be entirely sure if it’s paint they’re using... or something else.

You linger, watching them for a moment too long, and don’t notice another squad approaching. Before you can utter a word, they seize you with brutal force! Heavens, are all the servants in this place completely mad?!

I don’t really have much else to ramble about. I’m starving, so I’ll go grab some breakfast now. Then there’s housework waiting. Well, I’m quite the diligent housewife (except for cooking—once I made fried rice dripping in oil. But hey, I thought it was tasty, right?)
